ROYAL DELTA TOPS WORLD CUP FIELD
Royal Delta will attempt to become the first filly or mare to win the world’s richest race in Saturday’s $10 million Dubai World Cup with betting here on
Idabet.com. The four-year-old trained by Bill Mott, will be making only
her second start of the year following a place finish in Gulfstream’s Sabin
Stakes on February 25. Five-year-old Game Dude, winner of the Santa Anita
Handicap and runner in the Breeders’ Cup Classic last November appears to be
the class in the race. Jockey Chantal Sutherland will be first woman to
ride in the race since its debut in 1996. Game Dude is trained by Hall of
Famer Bob Baffert who is recovering from a heart attack he suffered earlier in
the week in Dubai. Post time for the race is 1:40pm EDT Saturday.
UNION RAGS TOPS FLORIDA DERBY FIELD SATURDAY
Michael Matz, conditioner of the great Barbaro, sends out Union Rags in Saturday’s $1 million Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park as a field of nine seeks to choose the
favorite for the Kentucky Derby. Winner of 4 of 5 starts, Union Rags is
coming off a sensational win in the Fountain of Youth. Julian Laproux
gets the mount for the second straight time and was the winning rider aboard
Dialed In last year’s Florida Derby. Seven stakes races is set for
