Sam Houston Race Park proudly presents the Houston Racing Festival this Sunday, January 26th featuring the eighth running of the $300,000 Houston Ladies Classic (Gr. 3). First post from Sam Houston is scheduled for 1:20pm Central (2:20pm Eastern).
A strong field of fillies and mares has been entered for the Houston Ladies Classic led by, SERENGETI EMPRESS, winner of the 2019 Kentucky Oaks (Gr. 1) and third place finisher in the 2019 Breeders Cup Distaff (Gr. 1) in her most recent start. But she’ll have to beat a talented field that includes LADY APPLE, winner of the Remington Oaks (Gr. 3) in her last start, MYLADY CURLIN, winner of the Fall City Handicap (Gr. 2) in her last start, and STREET BAND, who won the Cotillion (Gr. 1) just two starts back. Rounding out the field are stakes winners, OUT FOR A SPIN and SARACOSA.
The undercard on the Houston Racing Festival looks just as strong as the main event. FULL TWELVE HORSE FIELDS have been entered in all four TURF stakes; the $200,000 John B. Connally Turf Cup (Gr. 3), $200,000 Texas Turf Mile, $100,000 Frontier Utilities Turf Sprint, and $75,000 Jersey Lilly Turf Stakes. Rounding out the undercard is the $75,000 Stonerside Sprint Stakes on the main track.
