Turfway Park Bret Battaglia Picks for Thursday, Feb 18th

Race 1 DANCING GIRL is one of two West runners in here, this one comes in off a third place finish at Charles Town back in November and is the choice to pick up the maiden win here. DOGWOOD CHAPEL is another West trainee, this one has been off since July of 2014 and could be dangerous if she’s ready. LUKESLITTLESISTER ran a close second at this level last time out and is a contender.

Race 2 MEGA SENNA comes in off a second place finish at this same level and is the choice for the win against a wide-open field. HERO WISDOM was third as the favorite last time out and looks capable of running well here. HOT FRENCH FRIES has a chance.

Race 3 SECRET FASCINATION looked sharp winning on Friday the 12th, which isn’t listed on her running line yet. A repeat of that effort would make her tough to beat again tonight. SEATTLE SASS shows a win, a second and a third in her last three starts and looks like the one to beat. HOPE TO SHINE runs out of her conditions here, but comes in off a nice second place finish in her first attempt over the surface and figures to move forward tonight.

Race 4 GENERALSDOTTIR was well beaten last time out, but shows two nice third place finishes against tougher before that one, give her a slight edge here. ADOPT A KITTEN moves up in class after being beaten as the heavy favorite last time out when she was claimed. She’s shown some decent form against tougher as well and could be tough if she improves in her second start over the track. ANFIELD ROSE hasn’t shown much in two starts, but drops in class and picks up Jimenez tonight.

Race 5 SCARLET’S NUMBER didn’t’ fire as the heavy favorite in her last start, but a return to the form she showed before that one would make her tough to handle here. CAHOKIA finished well behind the top pick a few starts back on the turf at Hawthorne, but has run well in each of her two starts since moving to Turfway. She moves up in class after being claimed for the second time in a row and could be dangerous here. WILL GRACIE SHINE runs coupled with BAJA BESSIE who both look capable of running well here.

Race 6 CAR FIFTY FOUR shows a few even efforts in his last few starts over the track and is the choice for the win here. MR. UNANONYMOUS drops in class and looks like the one to beat. GOLDEN TOUCH didn’t post a big number in his maiden win, but the connections of this one always have to be respected.

Race 7 HIGHROLLER DAVE was no match for an impressive winner last time out, but looked sharp beating a few of these same horses before that one. Give him a slight edge again tonight. CAT’S IN THE MOOD finished just behind the top pick in his last start. He had some trouble early in that one, but a better trip could make him a winner here. CIRCLE UNBROKEN moves back up against allowance company in his first start since October and could be dangerous here if he takes to the Polytrack.

Race 8 DERBY FAN drops in for a tag for the first time after a disappointing effort last time out and is the choice to pick up the maiden win here. PULSE OF HOPE also moves in for a tag for the first time and is a definite contender. PRINCIPIO ran a nice second at this level last time out and could be tough if he can handle the move back around two turns.

Race 9 T C’S LUV didn’t fire last time out, but was running well before that one. He drops in class tonight and looks best against a well-matched field. BATTLE ON was second best last time out in his first attempt over the strip here at Turfway. He’s inconsistent, but has shown some good form at higher levels in Louisiana and could be tough here if he moves forward in his second start over the track. JARBOE has won two of his last three and would be no surprise here.
