HALL OF FAME JOCKEY CHALLENGE!
On Friday, jockey Alex Solis was named to the Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame. Then yesterday, he was named to the Hall of Fame Jockey Challenge on Black Eyed Susan Day at Pimlico (day before the Preakness) on May 16. Seven riders including Gary Stevens, Calvin Borel and Mike Smith will compete in a four race contest. Combined the jockeys have won nearly 50,000 races with purses of $1.8 billion. LEVY WINNER
PH Supercam won the $567,000 George Morton Levy Memorial Pace Final on Saturday night at Yonkers Raceway, catching favored Foiled Again in the final strides.
Driven by Jason Bartlett, PH Supercam ran the mile in 1:52:3 on the sloppy track, beating Apprentice Hanover by a half-length. Foiled Again, the richest pacer in history with $6.1 million, slipped back to third with Yannick Gingras driving.
The 7-year-old PH Supercam is owned by Bamond Racing and trained by PJ Fraley.
