Race 9: #1 Savvy Nine, #10 Beluga, #12 Fa Fa, #4 Zebrowski

Race 1: Australia Handicap

7 Oh Bravo draws favourably for Zac Purton. He’s shown glimpses of ability at times and his best should see him prove incredibly competitive. #2 Joy Master mixes his form but is a four-time winner in Hong Kong. Luke Ferraris hops up for father David and he should relish getting out in trip here. #8 Mister Arm can roll forward and try to make all here. #11 Super Kin has the wide gate to contend with. He’s next best.

Race 2: France Handicap

7 All Joyful can bounce back from his last-start struggles. He was caught far too back in the run that day and it wouldn’t surprise to see him turn it around here. #2 Zone D is holding his condition. He narrowly missed first-up and if he’s a player once more as long as he can offset the awkward gate. #8 Bulletproof draws favourably. He’s open to further improvement. #12 Stay Chill has claims at the bottom of the handicap. Interestingly enough Alexis Badel has opted to ride one-pound over weight.

Race 3: Japan Handicap

1 Touch Faith closed off nicely last start without room to move. He looks like he’s coming to hand and this contest appears suitable, albeit with top-weight and a...

$25,699 Super Hi-5 carryover at Batavia Saturday

By Tim Bojarski, for Batavia Downs

When live racing resumes at Batavia Downs on Saturday (Dec. 4) the track will once again offer two carryovers — including the largest in track history — and a free pick six contest. Three great opportunities to help make your Holidays merry and bright.

First in race six, there is a carryover of $604 in the Jackpot Pick-6 that runs through race 11. But then in race 11 you will find the Jackpot Super Hi-5 pentafecta that currently has the largest carryover in the history of Batavia Downs — $25,699. This carryover has been building for over three months and a single unique winning ticket on the right combination will take down the entire pool. With the brisk betting this wager has been getting since the pool has grown, the Super Hi-5 could see a total pool approaching $30,000 by post time for the 11th race on Saturday. Both the Jackpot Pick-6 and the Jackpot Super Hi-5 pentafecta are 20-cent base wagers.

And those attending Batavia Downs in person on Saturday can also play the free Pick-6 contest with a prize that is now worth $2,000. This contest starts in race four and runs through race nine. Simply pick up an entry blank at Players Club starting at 4:30, make your selections and deposit it back before the start of the fourth race. There is only one entry per person and you must pick all six winners to win the pool.

There are only three nights of live racing left in the 2021 season at Batavia Downs with Saturday (Dec. 11) being closing night and there will be a mandatory payout for any carryover pools that might still be in play for the Pick-5, Jackpot Pick-6 and Jackpot Super Hi-5 that evening.

Race 1: Amber Handicap

1 Super Fast is racing well. Jerry Chau takes a key three pounds off his back and his best is up to winning here. #2 Joyful Heart is yet to race on the dirt but he has moved well on this surface in a number of trials. Expect he’s up to contesting this and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him roll forward to try and lead. #5 Toycoon is close to a first win. Expect improvement once more getting up in trip with Joao Moreira engaged. #9 Yes We Can turned his form around last start. He shouldn’t be too far away.

Race 2: Aquamarine Handicap

6 Run Run Good narrowly missed last time out. He loves the dirt and the engagement of Joao Moreira is a very good push. He rates as a serious chance here albeit from gate 10. #2 Amazing Knight has taken a liking to the dirt. He has claims, especially with Zac Purton retained. #5 General Trump is racing well. He narrowly missed last start and it wouldn’t shock to see him go one better here. #8 Telecom Missile is next best for the Fownes and Ho combination.

Race 3: Garnet Handicap

2 Vento...
