Team IdaBet is please to share Woodbine’s Boxing Day selection by Wilbur Woodbine!

WOODBINE RACETRACK – 12/26/2017 – “Boxing Day” selections by Wilbur Woodbine – First Post 1pm ET

Another year has passed and it’s time for the annual Boxing Day selections. Let’s say you’ve got $100 to invest on this card.  Here’s how were gonna do it.  A 2 race win-place parlay.

We’ll start in race #5, the $34,400 final of the Niagara Series for 3 y/o fillies.

$40 win-place on the $5 Jazzy Image.  Conditioner Lambert reaches out to the talented young Trevor Henry to steer.  A real nice filly, and a really nice choice in pilots.

We’ll continue in race #9, the $34,000 final of the Valedictory Final for 3 y/o colts and geldings.

Split the proceeds from race 5 in an equal win-place wager on the #6 Better B Rolling.  Jody picks up the steer for (.457) UTR trainer Morrison.  This altered offspring of Roll With Joe is 9 of 12 in the win column and once runner-up.  Goes for his 5th straight since a win at the Hilltop on November 20.

So for the other 10 contests, go $2 win, or $1 wp as follows.

Race  1—#7 The Power Of Many

Race  2—#2 Overcomebyvictory

Race  3—#8 Gillys Boy

Race  4—#3 The Big Beast

Race  6—#5 Oceanview Deb

Race  7—#5 Jack Rackham

Race 1: 2- Audrey Anna – Draws into a race where several could win; this one gets the slight call over the others to take tonight’s opener. 1- Tomei Seelster – Looks to be tough in here if she minds her manners. 5- Riviera – Could be a factor with a clean effort. 3- Champagne Shower – Should get a good trip from the inside.

Race 3: 3- It’s A Miracle – Drops in class tonight after a tough, but game effort against Open company last time out, draw was very kind. 4- Tiger’s Sue – Has won four straight and is looking to continue the streak tonight. 6- Here Comes Harlee – Jumps in class tonight after showing speed against easier last out, expect more.

Race 4: 3- Dangerous Woman – Has been forced to close from off the pace in her last two starts, I expect her to be close and closing. 9- Missevil – Another with a big shot in here. 1- Wynnfrith – Should provide a little bit of value off the rail tonight. 4- Bling – Has as good of a shot as any in here to complete the Superfecta.

Trained by Kiaran McLaughlin, The Bernardini sired horse kicked off his 5-year-old campaign in January at Gulfstream Park winning an optional claiming race. Following a disappointing ninth-place finish in the Grade 2 Mac Diarmida Stakes he returned to win the Grade 3 Ben Ali at Keeneland last April. Next out finishing fifth in the Grade 3 Pimlico Special and a fourth-place running in the Grade 2 Suburban Handicap at Belmont Park, he returned to finish fourth off a layoff last out in the Richard W. Trained by Ken McPeek, The 3-year-old son of Discreetly Mine has not visited the winner’s circle since last April when he won the Grade 3 Lexington at Keeneland but will make his first start in a non-graded stakes race in the Queens County since winning an optional claiming race at Oaklawn Park in February.

Keeneland Presents American Graded Stakes Standings: Lewis Bay Adds To Brown’s Banner Year

Lewis Bay showed no signs of rust when she charged to a 1 ¼-length victory in the Grade 3 Rampart Stakes at Gulfstream Park last weekend. The race marked the first start in 13 months for the 4-year-old daughter of Bernardini, whose last start prior to the Rampart was a second-place finish in the G3 Comely at Aqueduct in November 2016.

The victory by Lewis Bay in the Rampart provided trainer Chad Brown with his 35th graded stakes winner this year, keeping him securely at the top of the American Graded Stakes Standings trainer list.

Fewer Favorites Lead To Big Payoffs At Meadowlands

FEWER FAVORITES LEAD TO BIG PAYOFFS AT BIG M

The percentage of winning favorites at the Meadowlands Racetrack currently stands at 32, one of the lowest in the country for thoroughbred or harness race tracks, and last week, the Pick 10 Survivor Wager, which is growing in popularity among fans given its 20-Cent base cost, returned $5,135 on Friday night and $8,301 one night later.

Last weekend, the Pick 5 pool averaged almost $47,000 over Friday and Saturday night, and on Saturday, $8,067 was the payoff on the bet, which has a 50-Cent base. The Late Pick 4, which also has a base of a half-dollar, had its pool reach almost $73,000 on Saturday night and sent one punter home with a nifty payout of $20,607.

“We have set some pretty lofty goals for 2018. I would like to see the nightly average on the Survivor Wager grow to over $25,000, the Pick 5 $50,000 and the Pick 4 $75,000, but my main goal is returning back to the basics,” said track chief operating officer and general manager Jason Settlemoir.

“As the horse shortage continues to get worse over the coming years, we will keep trying our best to field full cards. We may have to cut back on the number of races each night, but we would like to give our customers the fullest and most competitive fields possible. I also want to take this time to wish our customers, employees, horsemen and women – along with our loyal supporters – a very happy holiday season.”
