“Boxing Day” selections by Wilbur Woodbine

Race 1

#9 Nobettorplacetobe—Owner, trainer, driver Cullen sends this 4 y/o Bettors Delight stallion out in this claiming handicap opener on Boxing Day, looking for an eighth victory in the calendar year ending this coming Saturday.  When Travis leaves with him, he races nicely with this kind.  We see that as a crucial element to him grabbing the first half of the early double.

#10 Push Back—has only 8 starts this year, after making 43 in 2015.  Conditioner Allard took possession of this 8 y/o altered son of Art Major back in the summer, and has 3 starts with him, the most recent here the past two Monday’s, both runner-up finishes.  He gets the services of the red-hot Louis Roy, .416 UDR, and Allard is batting .341 conditioning.

#1 Sierra Madre—fits pretty well with these, for one by virtue of drawing the pole.  The 4 y/o Badlands Hanover gelding has only two 2016 wins to his credit, but has hit the board 9 other times in his 31 attempts.  Pilot Hensley is driving .291 UDR, and will be in the thick of things throughout for handler West, .182 UTR.  A must use in exotics.

#5 Think Again—is yet another seeking only his 3rd win of the year here.  The 4 y/o altered son of Art Major has the consistent team of Filion and Moreau in his corner, and also shows us 9 ITM finishes in his 37 trips to post in 2016.  He can leave a little, and...

Race 1: 1- Oh My Magic – Has two wins in a row and looks to garner a three-peat tonight. 5- Get To Doin It – Looks to be tough in here if he minds his manners. 2- Deadhead Royalty – One of several in here that could make the ticket. 3- Northern Spark – Should not be overlooked as a true competitor in here.

Race 2: 4- Jojo’s Journey – Move to the Loney barn and that has been a winning move for many. 2- Patient ID – Made the ticket last time out and looks to be right there again tonight. 8- Finish Line – Could do well in here despite starting from the far outside. 7- Skyway Cruiser – Could garner a piece of the action.

Race 3: 5- Star Photo – Was a winner last time out and could strike again tonight. 6- Fear The Football – Has the ability to be prominently placed on this ticket. 7- Winning Wizard – Could make the ticket despite starting from the far outside.

Race 4: 9- Red Pine – Should get a good trip from the second tier and could come out on top tonight. 3- Zebs Cam Bo – Inconsistent performer; looks to be tough in here if he is at his best. 7- Beach Boy Toy – Could add some value to the ticket. 2- Craig Michael – Has as good of a shot as any in here to complete the Superfecta.

Race 5: 4- Naco Blue Chip – Was the runner-up last time out; could step up tonight and get the job done. 2- Buzzen Garland – Another with a big shot in here. 6- Savoir Faire – One of several in here that could make the ticket. 8- Liberty Beach – Could grab a piece of the action despite starting from the far outside.

Del Mar Statement on Closing Day Pick Six Payout

We wanted to share with our IdaBet players the Del Mar Statement on Closing Day Pick Six Payout:

Beginning with its 2016 fall meeting, Del Mar instituted an enhanced Pick Six that included a Single Ticket Jackpot pool bonus for a unique (i.e., single) winning ticket.
Del Mar applied for the modification to its Pick Six under the Association of Racing Commissioners International (ARCI) rule 004-105G (“Pick n Pools”).  Under that rule, there is a provision which designates payouts during a mandatory distribution date (in this case closing day). Under the ARCI rule, if there is not a unique ticket on a mandatory distribution day, the entire pool, including any carryover that might exist, shall be paid out to those who have selected the first-place finishers in the greatest number of races. Based upon the rule, since there were 44 tickets with six of six winners, there was no consolation payout in these circumstances.
While Del Mar Thoroughbred Club and its tote provider, AmTote, were following the ARCI rule, we regret any confusion surrounding the payout of the Pick Six pool on the mandatory distribution day and how the ARCI rule may have impacted our customers.
