TRAINER CARLOS RUIZ QUALIFIES FASTEST HORSE FOR $157,577 OKLAHOMA PAINT AND APPALOOSA FUTURITY
Trainers Dee Keener, Matt Whitekiller and Eddie Willis all had multiple qualifiers for the Grade 1, $157,577 Oklahoma Paint & Appaloosa Futurity, but it is Carlos Ruiz who will send the fastest qualifier to the finals on March 23 at Remington Park.
The top horse, Js Kool Hand Luke, stopped the timer for 300 yards in a swift 15.656 seconds in race five as jockey Roberto Meraz, Jr., held on by a neck for a speed index of 82. This juvenile Paint is owned byShirley Wheeler of Boynton, Okla.
Keener will have three of the top five fastest qualifiers in the final, Matt Whitekiller also qualified three and Willis put two in the top 10.
