TRAINER CARLOS RUIZ QUALIFIES FASTEST HORSE FOR $157,577 OKLAHOMA PAINT AND APPALOOSA FUTURITY

Trainers Dee Keener, Matt Whitekiller and Eddie Willis all had multiple qualifiers for the Grade 1, $157,577 Oklahoma Paint & Appaloosa Futurity, but it is Carlos Ruiz who will send the fastest qualifier to the finals on March 23 at Remington Park.

The top horse, Js Kool Hand Luke, stopped the timer for 300 yards in a swift 15.656 seconds in race five as jockey Roberto Meraz, Jr., held on by a neck for a speed index of 82. This juvenile Paint is owned byShirley Wheeler of Boynton, Okla.

Keener will have three of the top five fastest qualifiers in the final, Matt Whitekiller also qualified three and Willis put two in the top 10.

out and looks to be right there again tonight. 7- It’s Just A Dream – Could make the ticket despite the poor post draw. 1- A
Million Thanks – Looks to be in the thick of the action from the rail.

Race 4: 6- O You Shady Thing – Was a winner two starts back and could strike again tonight. 5- Bar B Cute – Was a beaten

Some insights into tonight’s racing program

3RD RACE – (4) OZONE BLUE CHIP returns at reduced level after paying way across river. His inside trio rather sketchy, but we wouldn’t accept short price.

4TH RACE – (4) BAKERSFIELD earned four-eyeball in season bow couple of weeks ago, plotzing into perfect pocket but short late. Have to linger once more.

6TH RACE – (3) BETTOR MEMORIES appears to be well-drawn final pre-Levy adult pace. Again, can’t vouch for aggressiveness of gang before series onset.

10TH RACE – (5) SIMPLE KINDA MAN has not done much wrong, either for previous of current local outfit. Seems in with softer crowd this level, we nod.
