Icanflylikeanangel Circles The Field In Batavia Feature

Icanflylikeanangel Circles The Field In Batavia Feature

Aug 6, 2018

After a narrow defeat in his first start here, the second time was the charm for Icanflylikeanangel who overpowered the early leader to win the $10,000 Open Handicap trotting feature at Batavia Downs on Sunday afternoon (Aug. 5).

The short field of six was shortened even further with the scratch of last week’s winner Dragin The Wagon who called in sick. But the fast five left the gate with usual pace-setter and track record holder Chelseas Chance (Billy Davis Jr.) on the point once again. After a solid :28.3 quarter with the trailers all sitting in, Davis tried to put them to sleep with a :31 second panel as no one would come off the rail. However Icanflylikeanangel (Drew Monti) who had gotten away last, had enough and pulled in front of the stands to make his way up the rim.

With moderate acceleration towards the front up the backside, Icanflylikeanangel drew near the leader by the three-quarters in 1:28.3 and the race was on from there. The two trotted around the last turn less than a length apart but when they hit the top of the stretch, Monti woke up Icanflylikeanangel with a spirited drive and hit the wire a winner by a neck in 1:57.2.

It was the fifth win in 16 2018 starts for Icanflylikeanangel ($6.80) and it increased his coffers to $48,670 for this year. The 4-year-old Archangel gelding is owned by Joseph Hess and is trained by D Benny Eggers.

trotting well and that trend looks to continue. 4- Just A Passenger – Could add some value to the ticket. 1- Elo Hanover – Could be

should be tough again. 7- Major Count – Could add some value to the ticket. 9- Tsunami Seelster – Could grab a piece of the action
from the second tier.

looks to have a big shot in here. 1- Yankees Image – Looks to be tough in here if he minds his manners.

Yonkers Peek At Program- Monday, August 6th

Some insights into tonight’s racing program for our IdaBet players:

1ST RACE – (5) SHEBANG N was rolled over by her inside foe a week ago, but figures to once again take ‘em as far as she can. She could finish route…or not.

3RD RACE – (3) CLEMSON had burden of us first two locally, both seven-holes. Gets serious post relief third try and litmus test whether stalking continues.

4TH RACE – (1) DENVER SEELSTER hits town from Grand River (Happy Industry Day to those fine people) and wins draw. That could be enough for these.

6TH RACE – (5) QUEEN LOSTRIS N mocked her morning line, rolled late in hemisphere purse debut. Free shot at same level, so, in wagering parlance, ‘duh’.

9TH RACE – (2) LUCBOBSKI ascends the restricted ladder, but doesn’t fall in with a bad crowd. Fastest rival is five doors down, this one gets a ‘four-eyeball.’

10TH RACE – (1) CHANTEPLEURE gets flat-line through last series of no-chance efforts. There’s no mystery whatsoever, gonna be pointed forward in finale.

Yonkers Peek At Program- August 4th

Some insights into tonight’s racing program for our Idabet players:

3RD RACE – (1) MACON GEORGIA A might not have resume as gaudy as some in here, but has had his moments. Surmising gets half a trip, thus he’s usable.

4TH RACE – (4) LACHIE MAGUIRE N was buried in three-hole of death a week ago, trying to corkscrew his way to path. If he gets a shot, should work here.

5TH RACE – (4) SOLO STORY did stop the missive’s bleeding last Saturday with 17-1 upset. Lots of things worked for him then, bumps up but doesn’t owe us.

7TH RACE – (2) CAPOZZO extricated himself from cones in last weekend’s adult pace, angling with interest. Avoids that crowd, wins 2-thru 4 draw, intrigues.

8TH RACE – (5) SUMMER SIDE has been one we’ve stalked regularly, win last out at 3-4 (ugh!). Tries it with own age now and shouldn’t be above pay grade.

9TH RACE – (6) CHEYENNE JEFFREY was quite good after trying ‘40’s’ in latest, a first-up second. This gang is quite light for the price, so gauge and gaze.

11TH RACE – (7) ANOTHER DAILY COPY was predictably stuffed into a two-hole in last before leader was ground into submission. Finale nod, but tough.
