Buffalo Raceway Tips & Updates For IdaBet.com Players; Big Card On Saturday

We thought our IdaBet.com players would like to know It’s the best card thus far of the 2016 season from top to bottom at Buffalo Raceway on Saturday night (Feb. 27) as the 12-race program will carry $116,500 in purse money.

The featured race is the $24,000 finals of the popular Niatross Knockout Claiming Series along with the $10,000 consolation event. Bolstering the program will be the highly competitive $10,000 Open Pace as well.
The evening will mark the return of Jim Morrill Jr. as he begins his 2016 campaign. It’s safe to say he’s not easing into the year as he is slated to drive in 11 of 12 races. Morrill Jr. won 264 races last year and more than $5.4 million in purses.
Also appearing at the Hamburg half-mile oval will be driver Bruce Aldrich Jr. who sits eighth place nationally in victories this year with 65. He was fourth in 2015 with 663.
After three consecutive weeks of eliminations, the Niatross finale has eight combatants ready to go at it for the title which is scheduled for the eighth race.
Mach It Paid (Jim McNeight) is the 5-2 morning line favorite starting from the four post. He has finished either first or second in all six starts in 2016.
Flashy Trick drew the rail with current Buffalo Raceway leading driver David McNeight III and has been installed at 7-2. The 7-year-old gelding has won two legs in the series including a wire-to-wire trip in 1:58 last week in the semi-finals.
Beechwood Wayne rides a two-race win streak but has the seven post with Drew Monti slated to be in the bike at 5-1.
Others in the race include Midas Blue Chip (Truman Gale), Delightful Caitlin (Ron Beback Jr.), Tymal Torch (Ray Fisher Jr.), M G Jade (Morrill Jr.) and First Of Fun (Aldrich Jr.).
The consolation race has Aberarder Smitty drawing the rail at 5-2...

RIDDEN BY BEJARANO, FAVORED HAWKEDON TAKES $58,000 SANTA ANITA ALLOWANCE FEATURE BY 1 ¾ LENGTHS;

PUYPE TRAINEE GETS 6 ½ FURLONGS DOWN HILLSIDE TURF IN 1:13.19

A close fourth early, favored Hawkedon shot through an opening at the rail a furlong out and went on to an impressive 1 ¾ length win in Friday’s $58,000 Santa Anita allowance feature under Rafael Bejarano.  Trained by Mike Puype, the 7-year-old Macho Uno gelding covered 6 ½ furlongs down the hillside turf course in 1:13.19.

A close second over the course here on Feb. 4, Hawkedon was off at 8-5 in a field of 10 older horses and paid $5.40, $3.20 and $2.60.

“He ended up getting through today,” said Puype.  “Rafael took a shot and stayed down near the rail and that was big.  This horse loves this course.  He runs hard every time, tries hard every time.”

Owned by Janina Gasparrelli, Hawkedon now has three wins and three seconds from nine tries down the hill and is 16-4-3-1 overall.  With the winner’s share of $34,800, he increased his earnings to $144,470.

St. Joe Bay, who was part of a three-horse speed brigade that included Incline Village and Cardiac, finished second with Joe Talamo and paid $4.60 and $3.40.

Ridden by Drayden Van Dyke, Daddy D T rallied late to finish a length and a quarter behind St. Joe Bay and paid $4.00 to show.

Fractions on the race were 21.67, 43.78 and 1:07.18.

First post time for a nine-race card on Saturday is at 12:30 p.m.  Admission gates open at 10:30 a.m.

IdaBet.com Players Note: ALL STAR BUB RALLIES TO WIN $60,000 SANTA ANITA ALLOWANCE

The work week is nearing an end and we all have turned the corner looking ahead to the weekend!  We thought our IdaBet.com players would want to have a little insight on the happenings at Santa Anita for your wagering considerations.

Enjoy the upcoming weekend and thanks for directing your play the IdaBet.com way!

UNDER PATIENT HANDLING, ALL STAR BUB RALLIES TO WIN $60,000 SANTA ANITA ALLOWANCE FEATURE

BY ONE LENGTH UNDER BEJARANO; HOLLENDORFER FILLY GETS 1 1/16 MILES IN 1:45.12

Ridden with the biblical patience of Job, All Star Bub rallied late to take Thursday’s $60,000 Santa Anita allowance feature by one length under Rafael Bejarano, while covering a mile and one sixteenth in 1:45.12.

Trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, the 4-year-old Midshipman filly was a restrained fifth at the rail heading to the half mile pole and Bejarano had to bide his time at the fence before switching out to the three-path inside the sixteenth pole.

“I had a bad position at the rail,” said Bejarano, who registered his third win of the day.  “I knew that (favored) Divina Comedia and Tiz Ladys Legs would take off, so I just tried to hold my position and I stayed right behind the speed.

“In the stretch, I didn’t have anywhere to go but finally Divina Comedia (on the lead at the rail) and Show Stealer (second, just outside of “Divina”) took off a little, so it gave me a chance to get out and in the clear.”

The second choice in a field of six older fillies and mares at 9-5, All Star Bub paid $5.80, $3.20 and $2.80.  Owned by Gatto Racing, LLC, Campbell and Hollendorfer, All Star Bub got her third win from 15 starts.  With the winner’s share of $36,000, she increased her earnings to $147,360.

Ridden by Tyler Baze, Show Stealer, who finished a half length in front of Backintheacademy,  was off at 5-1 and paid $4.40 and $3.00.
