Harrah’s Louisiana Downs will host an exciting weekend of racing on Saturday, February 23 and Sunday, February 24.  Saturday’s post time has been moved up to 11:00 am (CT) to accommodate the fifteen trials for the $100,000-added Mardi Gras Futurity (RG2).

The Mardi Gras Futurity is the first official futurity of the year, and once again, interest was high for owners of accredited Louisiana-bred juveniles. The top ten qualifiers of the 300-yard trials will advance to the final on Saturday, March 16.

Louisiana Downs hosted 14 schooling races on Friday, February 1, giving 2-year-olds eligible for the Mardi Gras Futurity some additional experience and preparation for their first career start. Several juveniles stood out by winning their heats, and will be closely watched on Saturday.

Escandalo set the fastest time of the day, covering 220 yards in :12.262 seconds under jockey Eddie Sanchez. Bred by her owner, Delfino Lozano IV, she is a daughter of first-crop sire Apollitical Blood out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Eying Miss Perry. The bay filly, trained by Arturo Davila, III, will break from the far outside post in Saturday’s third trial.

Davila also trains Tahur, a son of Heza Fast Dash, who set the second fastest time in schooling...

Yonkers Peek At Program- Friday, February 22nd

Some insights into tonight’s racing program for our IdaBet.com players:

1ST RACE – (2) MILLIONDOLLAR WAVE justified a four-eyeball in latest by jumping it off at outset. Claimed from that, remains at same number so we stay.

3RD RACE – (1) D G’S ELSA has not proven she can play at this level. That said, last, first-up try quite good and no reason she can’t work out pocket trip here.

5TH RACE – (1) ADONIS BAY was humbled back down claim ladder after last. Wins drsw, sees main foe to immediate outside, taken to appreciate class dip.

6TH RACE – (3) ITTY BITTY could not have requested better set-up in last, behind eventual winner (No. 7 here), never getting close. We may be too forgiving.

7TH RACE – (5) DRAZZMATAZZ was at the deep end of his pool in latest pair, plodding along for final pay envelope week ago. This is more realistic venue.

11TH RACE – (5) LONE RAIDER shockingly found no room at the inn after leaving in last. Tries it for new barn while remaining unknown quantity this level.

Yonkers Peek At Program- Thursday, February 21st

Some insights into tonight’s racing program for our IdaBet players:

4TH RACE – (1) TAKE A WISH has been endorsed from outer venues, thus we sort of have to pole gaze. Tends to stay at it while main foe is behind eight-ball.

5TH RACE – (5) JUPITER JOHNNY went a decent back half in last, figures to be chasing once again. Hard to gauge as a ’20,’ perhaps moves forward off that.

6TH RACE – (3) SEVEN KNIGHTS has picked up small paydays at boxcar odds last couple and, as with above nod, gets serious post relief. Need not be much.

7TH RACE – (4) GYPSY LEATHER is another from the electoral college of recent past. Returned with a wide, backside try, catches soft group for this number.

10TH RACE – (8) PERLUCKY managed to get himself lost as odds-on fave in last. Went around dullards into contention before flattening, nod despite impost.

11TH RACE – (1) KEENE OLIVIA is probably better suited for lesser lasses, but that’s same for many in here. Not horrid last couple this level, pole finale gaze.
