Yonkers Peek At Program- Friday, February 1st

Some insights into tonight’s first-of-month racing program for our IdaBet players:

4TH RACE – (3) ITSONLYROCKNROLL A needed both class dip (last out) and good getaway (right now). This comp. ought not scare him, month’s first gaze.

5TH RACE – (1) CATCHA LEFTY A did not have shot when four-eyeballed in last, trying to move into paceless event. We’re obligated to stay from pole here.

6TH RACE – (2) DELISHKA N is trying to flip script after tough, two-move effort (against No. 4 here) upon arrival from Delaware. Blind draw, hard to ignore.

7TH RACE – (5) MADE OF JEWELS AS was buried—sometimes illogically —outside in some adult-table tries. Gets reprieve this time around, better fit tonite.

8TH RACE – (2) SHESJUSTADELIGHT N went evenly in last, perhaps not moving until issue over. Repeat nod from better draw, remaining at workable level.

12TH RACE – (1) WISHY WASHY GIRL is ‘shortest distance between two points’ gaze, finally drawing to utilize early foot. Guess she controls ‘em in finale.

——

$2 +/- (thru Tue., Jan. 29) – 15 wins ($87.40)
from 87 ($174) selex (-$86.60, a small price for continuous amusement)

highest-priced winner – MALNIFICENT ($24)
lowest-priced winners – CHIP WALTHER/FASHION BYTHEBEACH
($2.80 each)

Yonkers Peek At Program- Thursday, January 31st

Some insights into tonight’s end-of-month racing program.

1ST RACE – (3) BUCKEYE PRESIDENT has not been able to showcase his wares with series of no-chance draws. Guess works as a bottom claimer from here.

3RD RACE – (4) SIR MACHALOT was put in play from outer venue in last and was credible. Another seeing best getaway in few tries, should go accordingly.

4TH RACE – (5) KEENE OLIVIA is one we thought ought to be better than bottom-feeder. Picked off small envelopes from back in last couple, be closer here.

5TH RACE – (2) NOTHING BUT MUSCLE is a ‘change of venue’ intrigue choice, since last lines are poor. Finds way to solid barn for local bow, so we nod.

7TH RACE – (1) FASHION FOREVER wins draw and stay at it every start. Those fun factoids and perhaps some aggressiveness out of the gate couldn’t hurt.

9TH RACE – (3) MORE THAN MANY catches a very dressed-up group for this class. Would not be stunner if she stepped around inside two foes and cut mile.

2019 Dubai Racing Carnival – Thursday 31st January

The fifth meeting of the 2019 Dubai World Cup Carnival takes place tomorrow, please find below the Week 5 Meydan Overview and bet selections written by Racing TV’s Angus McNae.

Also attached the race cards for the fifth race meeting of the Carnival.

Meydan Overview & Selections – Week 5:

Last year, from week one of the Dubai International Carnival I was a huge fan of Benbatl because of the potential he showed in the Hampton Court Stakes at Royal Ascot and the subsequent unsuitable conditions he faced thereafter. He did not disappoint, taking the Grade 1 Dubai Turf on World Cup night. I did not have a similar horse in my mind this time around but Dream Castle is rapidly becoming a horse in whom I am investing a good deal of hope. He has been transformed by a gelding operation and is beginning to fulfil all the potential he showed when finishing 5th in the 2000 Guineas in 2017. Last week under Christophe Soumillon he won the Al Rashidiya, sealing the race with a smart turn of foot. He is developing into the new Benbatl. He’s not as good as him yet, but in the Grade 1 Jebel Hatta on Super Saturday he may well take another step towards being the new Benbatl.

Unfortunately a blank week last week, but we have a decent card to have a go at for Week 5 of this magnificent Carnival. Here are my five selections:

10:05am (ET) Meydan: Divine Image

The three year old filly division in the UAE at this time of year is quite weak and this filly stands out as being one with a good deal of potential for racing on the dirt at Meydan. She was wildly impressive on her only start to date winning at Chelmsford in a decent time over 6 furlongs. That early speed is a vital...
