Foiled Again to race at Batavia Downs on Friday

Foiled Again to race at Batavia Downs on Friday

Sep 21, 2018

The richest Standardbred in the history of the sport, the $7.59 million winner Foiled Again will be racing at Batavia Downs on Friday night (September 21) which is the next stop of his farewell tour as he heads to retirement at the end of the year.

Foiled Again’s lifetime win count is now at 103 races and he comes to Batavia on a three-race win streak having won at the Greenville Fair, the Windsor Fair and most recently at Freehold Raceway.

This past week he made an appearance at the Little Brown Jug in Delaware, Ohio and went a training mile in front of the crowd on Jugette Day in preparation for his race at The Downs on Friday.

The 14-year-old Foiled Again will compete in race eight at Batavia which is an Open II event going for $10,000 and the estimated post time for that race is 9 p.m. The visit was made possible through his owners Burke Racing, the Weaver Bruscemi partnership, and JJK Stables.

Having raced at Batavia Downs six times in his career, Foiled Again has a five win and one second record. His first appearance was in 2009 when he won his first of three Robert J. Kane Memorial paces, which is Batavia Down’s signature stake. He also won two Opens and finished second in a third.

In an interview earlier this summer, trainer Ron Burke expressed his feelings about racing Foiled Again at...

Jug selections- Thursday, September 20th

DELAWARE COUNTY FAIR

09/20/2018

Little Brown Jug Day selections by “Sulky Sam”

Dedicated in loving memory to the late Sam McKee, the best ambassador our sport has ever had.

Race 1 card one

#1 Ambitious Lillian and #4 Vintage Gal—were separated by a scant nose Sunday for the win.  They had the same posts as today.  Perhaps Noble repays Merriman with a turnaround.  The 7 & 8, getting the Millers, Dave and Brett respectively, should be a part of your exotic plans.

Race 2

#4 Rockette Baby—opens as the 2nd choice, and gets a driver upgrade to Gingras.  The 1, 3, and 6, should be the ones to look for to fill the balance of the ticket.

Race 1 card two

#6 Cookies Empire—opens at 6/1 m/l, and could be our first today to produce a nice mutual.  Talented young Tyler Smith steers for 22% winning conditioner Carter.  With a nice semi-longshot on top, we’re using four with or underneath.  They would be the 1, 2, 4, and 5.

Race 2

Is just a 3 horse event, which doesn’t offer much of a possibility of making money.  For general purposes, we’ll list the rail animal, Air Force Hanover.

Race 3

#2 Hititoutofthepark—might have won Sunday if 47% winning pilot, Alesha Binkley, got the drive instead of Minore.  As was, the Yankee Glide ridgeling still only missed by a scant neck.  We see the 1, and 4, as the most logical to use with him.

Race 4

#1 Mcstunning—has early foot, the rail, and her usual partner, trainer/driver Kurt Sugg to help.  We’re using five animals underneath, the 2, 3, 5, 6, and 2nd tier 9.
