Yonkers Peek At Program- Monday, April 16th

Some insights into tonight’s racing program for our IdaBet.com players:

1ST RACE – (4) GHOSTTOTHEPOST has not embarrassed Dave Casper in pair of career tries. Third in lone local effort, fastest foe may be behind eight-ball.

3RD RACE – (4) ONEIDA BLUE CHIP just missed in ’18 bow, skim cones in useful start. Remains versus limited lasses, taken to move forward second time.

4TH RACE – (7) REAL RAYENBOW was an NYSS/Sheppard Pace entrant as frosh a season ago. Begins 3-year-old season here, may be ready at first asking.

5TH RACE – (5) SILVER CREDIT is boardless in four starts this season, but that lack of resume dips him to bottom. Does mind manners, perhaps versus these.

9TH RACE – (2) D G’S ELSA has been just about every-out choice. First-up against odds-on number in last out, softening that one up, holding bottom of ticket.

12TH RACE – (1) MAKASI returns after fruitless series sojourn across river. Been quite functional here from off-pace, so curious if leaving from pole in finale.

Northfield Picks From The Ayers Above- Monday, April 16th

Northfield Track Announcer Ayers Ratliff’s free handicapping tips are provided for our IdaBet.com players.

Remember, due to their draw schedule, picks are made in advance and do not account for scratches or late driver changes.

From the “Ayers Above MONDAY EVENING, APRIL 16
Race 1: 2- Chad – Draws into a race where several could win; this one gets the slight call over the others to take tonight’s opener. 4- Vaya Con Dios – Looks to be
tough in here if he minds his manners. 1- At My Request – Could be a factor with a clean effort. 5- Winbak Charles M – Should get a good trip from mid-pack.

Race 2: 2- Nothin Fancy – Was claimed after a game effort last week where he was caught three-wide around the first turn, expect a strong effort. 7- Krusty The
Clown – Looks to be tough at this level of competition. 5- Zoom On Romeo – Has a good amount of early speed to contend with, expect improvement 2nd time
Lasix. 1- Ace Of Sharks– Could add value from the inside.

Race 3: 5- Cams Fernando– Didn’t get the best trip from post eight last week, post improvement makes him tough. 1- Man He Can Skoot – Finished second last
time out and could be right there again tonight. 3- Librado Hanover– Has been racing well at Northfield, drop in class plays to his favor.

Race 4: 3- Greatheart Hanover – Has been plagued with some tough posts, draw is a big helper tonight. 4- Lucky King – Another with a big shot in here.
1- Burton Blue Chip – New shooter coming in from Buffalo this week, could be tough from the rail. 8- Always A Fighter – Has as good of a shot as any in here to
complete the Superfecta.

Race 5: 4- Higgins – Improved nicely first off the claim for trainer Paul Holzman, expecting a big effort tonight. 3- Archetto Hanover – Has the ability to be
prominently placed on this ticket. 1- Smart Move – Should get a good trip from the inside. 8- Grandkids...

YONKERS’ MONDAY PICK 5 FEATURES $7,000 CARRYOVER, 20G GUARANTEE

A friendly reminder from Yonkers Raceway that Monday evening’s (April 16th) Pick 5 wager starts with a carryover of $7,066.26 and a $20,000 guaranteed pool. The guarantee is in conjunction with the U.S. Trotting Association’s Strategic Wagering Program.

The Pick 5 is a 50-cent base wager comprising races 7 through 11. It has no consolation payoff, meaning if no one selects all five winners (as was the case Saturday night), the entire pool (minus takeout) moves to the next racing program.

My Boy Jack Wins Stonestreet Lexington to Earn Spot in Kentucky Derby

Don’t Tell My Wife Stables and Monomoy Stables’ My Boy Jack rallied from far back to edge Telekinesis by a head to win the 37th running of the $200,000 Stonestreet Lexington (G3) for 3-year-olds and earn a spot in the starting gate for the $2 million Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (G1) on May 5.

Winning other stakes Saturday afternoon were Radar Racing’s Rated R Superstar in the 88th running of the $200,000 Ben Ali (G3) and Brad Grady’s Triple Chelsea, who upset defending champion Lady Aurelia in the 22nd running of the $100,000 Giant’s Causeway (L).

In the Stonestreet Lexington, My Boy Jack picked up 20 points toward the Kentucky Derby to increase his total to 52, more than enough to be among the top 20 point earners that will comprise the field.

Trained by Keith Desormeaux and ridden by his brother Kent Desormeaux, My Boy Jack covered the 1 1/16 miles on a fast main track in 1:44.22.

Greyvitos led the field of 10 through early fractions of :23.28 and :47.11 while under no pressure as My Boy Jack raced far back in next to last. Approaching the far turn, Telekinesis went after Greyvitos while Desormeaux began picking off horses on the outside.

Turning into the short stretch, Telekinesis put away Greyvitos, but was quickly joined by My Boy Jack, who surged past in the final yards.

The victory was worth $120,000 and increased My Boy Jack’s earnings to $645,145 with a record of 10-3-3-2. It marked the second Grade 3 victory for My Boy Jack, who took the Southwest (G3) at Oaklawn Park in February.
