Absatootly, Quezon Face Off Again In Friday’s La Verdad

Newman Racing’s Absatootly and Mac Keller’s Quezon will square off for a fifth consecutive race as part of a field of seven older New York-bred fillies and mares in the first running of the $100,000 La Verdad at seven furlongs on Friday at Aqueduct Racetrack.

Originally scheduled to run on Saturday, January 6, the La Verdad’s inaugural edition was pushed back after a winter storm and inclement weather canceled racing at the Big A from January 4-7.

The rescheduled date provided an extra week of rest for Absatootly, who is looking to build on a third-place finish in the Garland of Roses on December 9 at Aqueduct, which Quezon won by three-quarters of a length. That marked the fifth time in seven stakes starts that Absatootly finished on the board last year, including a half-length score over Quezon in the Iroquois on October 21 at Belmont Park.

Trained by Charlie Baker, Absatootly finished 2017 with Beyer Speed Figures of 80 or better in her last four starts. Jockey Rafael Hernandez will have the call for the first time from post 2.

“I didn’t think the race would go off last week, but she’s been doing fine and we’re ready to see what she can do this year,” Baker said.

Quezon rallied from last in the Garland of Roses to register her only stakes win of 2017 in five attempts, including a third-place effort in the Grade 3 Vagrancy on May 5 at Belmont.

The 6-year-old Tiz Wonderful mare earned a personal-best 97 Beyer for running second in the Iroquois, which came one start after running third in the Grade 2 Gallant Bloom on September 24.

Quezon is 6-6-2 in 17 career starts. The Bobby Ribaudo trainee drew post 6 with Joe Rocco, Jr. aboard.

The ultra-consistent Bee Noteworthy will look to finish on the board for the fourth time in her...

Santa Anita Pick Six Carryover Into Thursday Of $92,218

Jan 8, 2018

SANTA ANITA PICK SIX CARRYOVER INTO THURSDAY OF $92,218; TOTAL PICK SIX POOL SHOULD APPROACH $500,000

UNTOUCHED THROUGH EIGHT DAYS, SANTA ANITA SINGLE TICKET JACKPOT CARRYOVER SWELLS TO $213,717

With average field size in Sunday’s Pick Six averaging just over 10 runners per race, Santa Anita’s two dollar Pick Six proved unhittable, resulting in a carryover into Thursday of $92,218. With three days off and fresh money expected, Thursday’s total Pick Six pool is expected to approach $500,000.

Additionally, for the eighth consecutive racing day, Santa Anita’s Single Ticket Pick Six Jackpot again proved elusive resulting in a separate Jackpot carryover of $213,717 heading into Thursday.

With an eight-race card on tap Thursday, the Pick Six will encompass races three through eight. A total of 59 horses, 57 of which are eligible to run, have been entered in Thursday’s Pick Six, making for average field size of 9.5 runners per race.

First post time Thursday is at 1 p.m. and approximate post time for race three is at 2 p.m. PT.

Gulfstream’s Rainbow 6 Carryover Swells To Over $1.4 Million

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 went unsolved for the 24th consecutive program at Gulfstream Park on Sunday, swelling the jackpot carryover to $1,464,550.68 for Wednesday’s card.

Multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $39,124.30.

The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

The carryover jackpot pool going into Sunday’s six-race sequence (Races 6-11) was $1,287,926.22, generating a Rainbow 6 handle of $736,026.

The popular multi-race wager has last solved on Dec. 7, when a lucky ticketholder cashed for a $98,309.32 jackpot payoff.

Who’s Hot: The Ortiz brothers each made two visits to the winner’s circle. Irad Ortiz Jr. scored aboard Pounds to Pennies ($6.20) in the sixth race and Whoop Ti Do ($5.60) in the seventh. Jose Ortiz won on Uncle Tbone ($4.60) in the third and Cosita Rica ($9.20) in the 11th.

Good luck at Gulfstream Park and thank you for choosing IdaBet.com!

Northfield Park Signal Temporarily Suspended

Dear Valued IdaBet.com players:

We are temporarily having to suspend Northfield Park’s racing signal due to a lawsuit filed by the Ohio horseman’s association against Northfield Park for alleged penalties owed for not fully disclosing all

export signal

entities per contracts (in a nutshell).

Unfortunately, even though our company provided the proper contract language and specifically listed all our operational sites, Northfield Park submitted approvals to the  Ohio horseman’s association that only listed the legal entity name or in our case, only submitted a partial list of operational sites and the horsemen are arguing that penalty is due on the handle from those specific sites even though purses were paid for all handle according to Northfield Park.
We’ve been told by Northfield Park that they are at the negotiating table with the Ohio horsemen but that signal must be suspended on the sites that were not specifically included by TRA code in the submittal process.
We have also been told by Northfield Park that this issue effects a multitude of sites across the country both ADW and OTB.
This is extremely unfortunate for all parties as handle will be affected at Northfield Park, purses will be affected to the Ohio horsemen, and innocent companies such as ours are affected because we’re caught in the crossfire

through no fault of our own

.

We’re hopeful an agreement can be reached quickly and we can resume signal distribution in the near future.
We apologize and regret any inconvenience this will cause you. ...
