Performed well in higher class. Gets in on NW8 clause. 5-POLITICAL FOE…always seems to try hard. Showed strong trot on backside in last. On ticket.

RACE TWO 5-MACHMEMACKIE…gave nice performance in 2016 debut showing gate speed & strong close. 6-ROADDOG JESS JAMES…not much on paper but liked double-bubble move 5/16s out. Rocks late. 7-Y S JOE…been solid in class last few starts. Will pick up live cover on the backside. Compares!

IdaBet players, did you know that Crazy About Pat, handled this night by Ricky Macomber, Jr., scored a handy two length win in Pompano Park’s $15,000 Open Handicap Trot on Tuesday night.

The six year-old gelded son of Crazed stopped the tele-timer in 1:53.4 in scoring his first win in just two starts this year and 24th career win.

Coco Lindy, the early pacesetter, finished second in the mile but was disqualified and placed sixth (and last) due to an extended break from the top of the stretch through the wire enabling Natural Herbie to earn the place honors for Verlin Yoder while Midnite Craze, driven by Ivan Davies, was moved up a notch into third. Diamond Dagger and Pocket Trip earned the minors.

Indeed, it was Coco Lindy alert leaving and taking the field through an opener in :27.2 with Crazy About Pat, away in good order fourth and on the motor early, taking the lead after three-eighths of a mile.

With a half in :56.2 and three quarters in 1:24.4, Crazy About Pat was on a mission to protect his lead as they turned for home with Coco Lindy leaving the coziness of the pocket to challenge.

But Coco Lindy made that miscue at the top of the lane and galloped all the way home, leaving Crazy About Pat unscathed the rest of his journey.

After the race, driver Ricky Macomber, Jr. said, “Mr. Kelley (trainer Paul) said he’d be good tonight and he was more than good. He was great. Looks like he likes trotting in 1:53.4 since he did that in winning his qualifier a couple of weeks ago and was second to that Wind Of The North in his first start timed in 1:53.4. That’s not a bad time to be stuck on!”

MEADOWLANDS TO AWARD TWO WHHC SPOTS ON SATURDAY

We thought our IdaBet players would want to know that Two coveted berths to the $50,000 World Harness Handicapping Championship will be on the line this Saturday, March 19 in a qualifying tournament hosted by the Meadowlands.

 

The qualifier features a $200 buy-in that includes a $100 entry fee and a $100 bankroll. Contestants are required to bet a minimum of 10 Meadowlands live races with a minimum $10 wager per race. There is no maximum wager per race. Only Win, Place, Show wagers will be allowed and only one horse per race can be selected. Entry fee includes a live racing program, Harness Eye, and food voucher.

 

The top two finishers in the qualifier will receive seats to the $50,000 WHHC Final to be held on April 30 at the Meadowlands. In addition, contestants keep all pari-mutuel earnings accumulated during the contest plus a $10,000 prize pool will be paid out to the top 10 finishers (based on 100 entries).

 

Walk-up registration will be available from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on the date of the contest. Advance registration can be mailed to the Meadowlands and must be received by the end of business on Friday.
