A PEEK AT THE PROGRAM–SATURDAY, APRIL 15
BY FRANK DRUCKER,
Publicity Director, Empire City @ Yonkers Raceway
Some insights into tonight’s racing program.
(an early Happy Easter, and a reminder we [and Empire City Bets] are dark for simulcasting tomorrow)
1ST RACE – (6) GYSPY LEATHER leaves the land of the claimers into an ‘open opener,’ where he’s gonna need a win into, but ought to be a price.
5TH RACE – (1) CAVIART LUCA is winless in four Levy tries, but wins draws in tonight’s first division and appears out of excuses.
6TH RACE – (2) ROCKIN’ RON has a fan in this missive. Has raced well in all local tries and can work out winnable trip in second series grouping.
7TH RACE – (2) McARDLE’S LIGHTNING snapped late in last week’s series try. Figures close up again for barn that’s grossly overdue, so we offer nod.
8TH RACE – (3) HEMI SEELSTER is a solid, adult-table trotter who figures to either cut this mile or be close enough from here to have helluva shot.
10TH RACE – (4) SIR MACHALOT is making just sixth ’17 try, so playing catch-up. Also moves up without winning, but seems going in correct direction.
12TH RACE – (3) DR. J HANOVER found the porridge too hot in Levy Series. Cools off his tootsies and plays ‘catch me if you can’ with these in finale.
$2 +/- (thru Tue., Apr. 11) – 99 wins [inc. 1 dead-heat] ($729.30)
from 426 ($852) selex (-$122.70)
highest-priced winner – LONG LIVE ROCK ($38.60)
lowest-priced winner – REGIL ELEKTRA ($2.40)
