Race 1 – SHENYANG HANDICAP
#4 Windicator Family was a hard-luck story first-up at this course and trip, held up from the 400m to the 200m before closing well into third. He now picks up Purton and looks well placed to atone. #9 Young Horizon resumes for the Brett Crawford stable and is capable on his current rating. He tends to get back in his races which can make things tricky, but his recent trial was encouraging and suggests he’s ready to fire. #2 Cashiscash went close first-up from a soft draw and has been trending the right way since dropping to Class 5. He’ll need a touch more luck from gate 9 but remains a key player. #11 Tsuen Wan Glory should press forward under the apprentice claim and look to replicate his front-running win from two starts ago.

Race 2 – CHONGQING HANDICAP
#3 Aurora Patch has been building towards a win since...

Race 1 – TROPICBIRD HANDICAP
#8 Speedy Smartie turned in a decent run first-up when forced to work from a wide draw, boxing on gamely into second. He’s much better placed from barrier 3 and gets a genuine chance to deliver Brett Crawford his first Hong Kong winner. #3 Yee Cheong Raider steps into Class 5 for the first time and has been holding his form well. His two recent efforts over this course and distance were encouraging, and Purton’s booking from a soft draw makes him a serious player. #6 Brilliant Fire showed marked improvement first-up, running on late despite traffic in the straight, and looks set to progress further. #12 Sonic Boom closed sharply from the tail first-up on turf and now switches back to his preferred all-weather...

Race 1 – HONG TUNG HANDICAP

4 Circuit Fiery looks ready to shed his maiden tag after back-to-back placings in Class 5, and this shapes as the right race for him to go one better. #1 Night Purosangue failed to hit the frame in seven runs last season but showed signs of progress, and now down in grade and with a trial win under his belt, he looks on the up. #3 Team Happy won first-up last season off a higher mark and ran third on his first attempt in Class 5, suggesting a win in the grade is near. #10 My Flying Angel has dropped enough in the ratings to become competitive and is not without a chance.

Race 2 – HONG TUNG HANDICAP

3 Jumbo Fortune drops into Class 5 for the first time and now with Danny Shum, he’s trialled up nicely for his return. This looks a golden chance to land his second Hong Kong win. #7 Verbier maps to find the front with ease and can take running down under Ellis Wong’s claim. #1 Only U has a sticky draw in barrier 12 but gets Zac Purton for his first start under Brett Crawford, and his luckless second placing in this grade three...
