Yonkers Peek At Program- Tuesday, September 25th

Some insights into tonight’s racing program for our IdaBet.com players:
(reminder, it’s a rare Wednesday card tomorrow, same bat time @ 6:50 PM).

1ST RACE – (2) KIM’S DESIRE parks here after wooden Nichols has closed for season. Lass had raced locally thrice last season, returning to blank opposition.

3RD RACE – (8) N EXPENSE crosses the border with 14 ’18 wins, catching our attention. Primarily small-track artist, so worth a shot despite rotten local draw.

4TH RACE – (6) ACEFORTYFOURAMANDA has been given four-eyeball here more than once with sporadic results. Gonna need some help getting into fray.

5TH RACE – (5) I FOUND MY BEACH and 0-for-27 seasonal log taken out of last start. Remains at same level and first try for new barn makes us inquisitive.

7TH RACE – (1) QUICK ART found no room at the inn after leaving in last. Rare inner-half draw suggests his top-secret plan is taking this gang as far he can.

8TH RACE – (2) REI’S STAR CROSS is no stranger to these environs, but not seen here since last December. Gets gazed in—wait for it—eighth-race finale.

——

$2 +/- (thru Sat., Sept. 22) – 254 wins ($2,028.80)
from 1,112 ($2,224) selex (-$195.20, choices not intended for commercial use)

highest-priced winner – HIGHVIEW CONALL N ($43.60)
lowest-priced winner – PLUNGE BLUE CHIP ($2.20, friggin’ shrewd)

Yonkers Peek At Program- Monday, September 24th

Some insights into tonight’s racing program for our IdaBet players:

1ST RACE – (2) PART-TIME HANOVER finds way here via the Maritimes, and we always enjoy those fine folks. Won last couple but been out 23 days, so…?

2ND RACE – (5) LANDONFITZ does not figure to have alibi. Rids an eight-hole this level, then three consecutive second-tiers versus ‘French’ better, thus nod.

4TH RACE – (7) RED DIRT REBEL is another from eastern Canada, though had decent Pocono try 23 days between starts. Need not be much to liquidate these.

5TH RACE – (5) WHO’S BETTER was put in tight quarters two back before closing well, then solid third into track-record mile in latest. We hop aboard again.

7TH RACE – (5) YOU SAID IT was four-eyeballed when here from wooden Nichols off barn change. Promptly managed to get himself lost as odds-on favorite.

9TH RACE – (2) TITANIUM N comes out of same race as fifth-race number, finishing second. Same venue here, even with class hike, substantially less in way.

Mitchell Cushing steers six winners at Plainridge Park

Mitchell Cushing steers six winners at Plainridge Park

Sep 22, 2018

It’s not too often a driver wins half a card of racing but that’s just what Mitchell Cushing did on Thursday (Sept. 20) at Plainridge Park. Cushing drove six winners on the 12-race program including a victory in the $15,000 6-year-old and under condition pacing feature with Lear Seelster.

Lear Seelster started from post two and stayed right there behind Tixnstones (Jim Hardy) who cut the mile. The race incrementally went :26.3, :56.1 and 1:24.1 under the challenge of an outer flow. But at the top of the lane it came down to Tixnstones and Lear Seelster and Cushing made the push that got the job done as Lear Seelster pulled away by a length to win in 1:52.3.

It was the seventh win of the year and a new lifetime mark for Lear Seelster ($5.00) who is owned by David Glazer and trained by Jim Nickerson.

Cushing also won with See Me Streakin (1:53.4, $13.40), Sports Lightning (1:51.4, $8.00), Jefferson Tare (1:52.2, $5.40), Manny (1:52.1, $3.00) and Siskel (1:52, $35.40).

In the eleven races Cushing drove, he also finished second and third twice each and combined with the six wins gave him an amazing Universal Driver Rating (UDR) of .707. Cushing is having a career year with 173 wins out of 788 starts earning $859,421 in purses and sporting a .363 UDR for the year.

Plainridge Park is well represented in North American harness racing as three of the top 10 percentage drivers compete daily at The Ridge. Drew Campbell is second with a .420 UDR,...
