Yonkers Raceway Free PPs For IdaBet Players- Saturday, May 19th

Some insights into the Preakness Night racing program for our IdaBet players:

1ST RACE – (3) ABNER THE GREAT did not get room until late in the lane when four-eyeballed a week ago. Attracted then as first-time tag, so stay in opener.

3RD RACE – (2) MACHTU N has been gazed previously, with ‘eh’ to show for it. Finds himself in with some bona fide toughies, but draws too well to ignore.

5TH RACE – (HN 4) PASS LINE BLUECHIP was quite good in last week’s group of Reynolds here. Minimal incentive to win in nine-to-eliminate-one, but…

7TH RACE – (3) SUNFIRE BLUE CHIP returns to adult table and taken to take these as far he can. Solid outside assignees have to catch him, so maybe not.

8TH RACE – (5) HANDSOFFMYCHIPS has not raced poorly in restricted ranks. Makes ambitious leap into elims of Rooney Pace, so we take certified stab.

9TH RACE – (5) BEYOND DELIGHT returns here for first start since early April. Laid over restricted foes then, sees high-condition field with questions now.

——

$2 +/- (thru Tue., May 15) – 126 wins ($1,091.40)
from 578 ($1,156) selex (-$64.60, ‘Maryland, My Maryland’)

highest-priced winner – INSPIRATION VIEW ($36.60)
lowest-priced winners – NATIONAL SEELSTER/JORDAN BLUE CHIP
($2.50 each)

150 years later, NYRA experts pick the Top 5 Belmont Stakes

The Belmont Stakes will celebrate a milestone anniversary on June 9 when the 150th renewal of the famed final jewel of the Triple Crown will be contested at Belmont Park.

Whether Kentucky Derby winner Justify will add to the festivities with a Triple Crown bid remains to be seen. Regardless of what happens in Saturday’s Preakness, such a historic edition of the Belmont Stakes brings to mind the many reasons why the mile-and-a-half classic is rightfully known as “The Test of the Champion.”

Since its first running in 1867 at Jerome Park, the Belmont Stakes has been the demanding challenge that has crowned 12 Triple Crown and been a proving ground for a list of champions as long as the racetrack’s stretch while giving life to some of the sport’s most renowned and unforgettable races.

In commemoration of the highly anticipated sesquicentennial edition of one of the sport’s premier races, nine members of the New York Racing Association broadcast team (David Aragona, Larry Collmus, Gabby Gaudet, John Imbriale, Paul Lo Duca, Andy Serling, Anthony Stabile, Greg Wolf and Maggie Wolfendale-Morley) were asked to rank their respective five all-time best runnings of the Belmont Stakes. Beginning today with No. 5 and continuing on May 24 and May 31, we’ll reveal their results of their votes until one race stands tall as the crown jewel in the glorious history of the oldest and most demanding race in the Triple Crown.

Along the way, be sure to check out NYRA personalities’ thoughts on the poll via Twitter and you can also offer your opinion by tweeting to @TheNYRA using the hashtag #Top5Belmonts.

The series starts at number five with a result even tighter than the battle to the
wire between Victory Gallop and Real Quiet in the 1998 Belmont Stakes:
No. 5 (Tie) – The 1989 Belmont Stakes, Easy Goer
The 1989...

Ducharme’s Mass-breds shine at Plainridge Park

Ducharme’s Mass-breds shine at Plainridge Park

May 18, 2018

Walpole, Massachusetts native George Ducharme left his Vernon Downs base of operations to return home with two of his state-bred trotters and came away with two wins, two lifetime marks and a tie for a track record for his students after their day of work at Plainridge Park on Thursday afternoon (May 17).

Last year’s Massachusetts Sire Stake (MASS) 2-year-old champion Hashtagmadeyalook bounced back from a disappointing start in a $40,600 New York Sire Stake at Vernon Downs last week to defeat nine rivals in the $12,500 Highland Light Series for 3 and 4-year-old trotters at Plainridge today.

Leaving from post three, Hashtagmadeyalook (Shawn Gray) took a quarter to get the lead, but when he did it was for good. After cutting fractions of :28, :57.3 and 1:26.3, Gray kept his trotter on task and held off a rush from a late-closing Now’s The Moment (Mike Stevenson) to win by a half-length in 1:55.4.

The time was a new lifetime mark for the winner.

Hashtagmadeyalook ($3.20), who is a 2018 Hambletonian eligible, is owned by his breeder Ray Campbell Jr.

Ducharme’s other entry was 2016 2-year-old MASS champion Muscles Jared who made heads turn in the $12,000 conditioned overnight trotting feature.

In a similar manner to his stablemate, Muscles Jared (Shawn Gray) left and cleared past the...

Yonkers Peek At Program- Friday, May 18th

Some insights into tonight’s racing program for our IdaBet players:

3RD RACE – (2) TWIN B SPEEDO was not prominent while chasing a level better than these. Returns to class of last win, no reason he shouldn’t appreciate it.

4TH RACE – (6) RYCROFT N has done decent work since hitting town from western PA. Confirmed closer tries tougher, but there could be some pace to chase.

6TH RACE – (1) DELIGHTFUL DRAGON is gonna be pole-dancer price in distaff derby. Impressed with resurgent second to runaway (No. 7 here) week ago.

7TH RACE – (5) FREAKONOMICS finally did us some good in last outing, ‘peeked’ and persistent to wire. Opposes a bit better here, surmising she handles it.

9TH RACE – (5) CABBIE’S DELIGHT offered some crisp, late pace inside in last, second to slipping-out fave. Suckered in by this one getting ‘tagged’ here.

10TH RACE – (4) AZUL POOL did not get involved from eight-hole in last, improves four places. Both season wins at this level, now some sketchy finale foes.
