Yonkers Peek At Program- Friday, January 12th

A PEEK AT THE PROGRAM–FRIDAY, JANUARY 12

Some insights into tonight’s racing program for our IdaBet players:

1ST RACE – (2) E L DARTSMYBOY is one we haven’t seen before, but has enough of small-track resume on both sides of border. Foes here far from vicious.

2ND RACE – (1) BROWN BRINNY is lass who’s been successfully ‘peeked’ in past. Continues to draw well and taken to handle these from a perceived pocket.

3RD RACE – (7) MORE THAN MANY was very solid number at level just below this, tries with these haven’t been poor. Gonna be price if she gets involved.

6TH RACE – (5) PRETTY IMAGE ended ’17 when she finished third to pair of much-better ladies than the sorority of tonight. Gazed in very light distaff derby.

10TH RACE – (5) WE THINK ALIKE returns off tidy central Jersey win and back in for tag. Been a tough-to-figure sort, but surmising good enough for these.

11TH RACE – (6) PEMBROKE WILDCAT has been receiving no love with the robo-draw. Can play here, provided gets numbers to chase or race falls apart.

——

$2 +/- (thru Tue., Jan. 9) – 6 wins ($56.50)

from 18 ($36) selex (+$20.50, house money…what a concept)

highest-priced winner – CONSOLIDATOR ($15.60)

lowest-priced winner – OZONE BLUE CHIP ($4.60)

Empire Earl N Leads Field In Buffalo Raceway Opener

Empire Earl N Leads Field In Buffalo Raceway Opener

Jan 11, 2018

It only seems fitting that the first race on Friday night’s (Jan. 12) opening card of the 2018 season at Buffalo Raceway will feature three award winners from the 2017 campaign.

Empire Earl N, Buffalo Raceway’s Trotter of the Year last season, will head the field in the featured $9,500 Open Trot scheduled to go off at 5 p.m. in the first of nine races on the evening. The 10-year-old gelding is owned by driver Larry Stalbaum and is conditioned by Kim Asher, both of whom captured Driver and Trainer of the Year honors respectively last year.
Stalbaum finished the year with 347 victories with 193 of those coming at the Hamburg half-mile oval. He’ll be busy on Friday night as Stalbaum is slated to drive in all nine races.
Asher had the top UTR rating in the United States in 2017 with a .429 mark thanks to 219 victories in 784 starts with her stable earning $1,157,977. She had 115 wins at Buffalo Raceway.
Last season, Empire Earl N won 4-of-11 starts at Buffalo Raceway, putting $32,000 in the bank. He drew many outside posts and was competitive in each appearance. Empire Earl N, who won $75,915 in 2017, drew the five post on Friday night.
The wide open event will also include Northern Matador, Lucky Pablo, Fleet Bumblebee, Kahoku and...

Yonkers’ Friday Pick 5 Features 15G Double Carryover, 40G Guarantee

Yonkers Raceway’s Friday evening (Jan. 12th) Pick 5 wager starts with a double carryover of $15,113.25 as well as a $40,000 guaranteed pool.

The ‘instant’ guarantee is in conjunction with the U-S  Trotting Association’s Strategic Wagering Program.

English Soul Headlines East View

Initially scheduled for December 28 and postponed due to inclement weather, the $100,000 East View for New York-bred juvenile fillies has been rescheduled for Sunday, January 14 at Aqueduct Racetrack and features a talented field of nine runners.
Entering for Zilla Racing Stables and trying to remain undefeated on the dirt for trainer Ray Handal is English Soul. Sired by English Channel, she made her debut on August 28 at Saratoga Race Course on the turf where she quickly grabbed the lead establishing herself on the front end from a field of 10 before being caught late at the wire to finish second by a neck.
English Soul impressively broke her maiden in her second start by 14 ¼ lengths in a race initially intended for the turf but moved over a sloppy main track at Belmont Park.
Moving up to stakes class in her next start in the Chelsey Flower on the turf at Aqueduct on November 9, she ran sixth. Most recently, she captured an optional-claiming race moved off the turf over a sloppy main track at Aqueduct on November 22, recording a 72 Beyer Speed Figure.
Drawing the rail, English Soul will depart with Manny Franco aboard.
Cryinthemoonlight is set to make her third career start and first start since breaking her maiden on December 6 at the Big A, winning by 3 ¼ lengths. She is owned by Albert Fried, Jr. and trained by Charlie Baker.
A daughter of Street Cry, Cryinthemoonlight made her first start on November 18 at Aqueduct in which she drew post 13 from a field of 14 and raced 4 wide most of the way to finish eighth. Returning to earn a 69 Beyer Speed Figure last out, she will look to reunite with winning rider Dylan Davis from post 2.
Trainer Mark Hennig entered Cause We Are Loyal for Reddam Racing. A daughter of Creative Cause, she has two wins from five career starts. Starting her career with trainer Doug O’Neill, she broke her...
