Yonkers Peek At Program- Wednesday, September 26th

Some insights into tonight’s racing program for our IdaBet players:

1ST RACE – (5) ANOTHER DAILY COPY returns from Pocono into a class he should handle. He’s not what he was, which explains why winds up with these.

2ND RACE – (2) HEY JUDY JUDY has not disgraced herself of late, pair of off-pace thirds. Worth shot starting directly outside New York Sire Stakes refugee.

4TH RACE – (6) CHAPERESS is 0-for-10 this season, but raced decently in Excelsior event here earlier. Generally been minding manners, so gets a tepid gaze.

5TH RACE – (2) SOUTHWIND CRUZE did not fire taking coin upon arrival from Vernon. Tries it here off barn change, nod hooking toughie three doors down.

6TH RACE – (6) LILY’S SWAN POND gets another four-eyeball after good pocket second in latest. Figures put in play once again despite draw but can handle.

7TH RACE – (5) THAT’S MY OPINION has been hard to figure, but returns to town off good Monti win. Sees bunch of recent lightweights here, thus why not?

Drew Campbell Runs Away With Six At Plainridge Park

Drew Campbell Runs Away With Six At Plainridge Park

Sep 26, 2018

Drew Campbell, who is currently the second leading percentage driver in North America, displayed exactly why he is on Tuesday afternoon (Sept. 25) at Plainridge Park by winning six races on the 11 race card by a combined 27-lengths.

Campbell cruised home on top with Dr. C’s Z Tam (1:54.1, $4.60), Shanghai Warrior (1:53.1, $4.80), Stonebridge Honey (1:54.4, $2.20), Golden Idol (1:55.2, $5.60), Mcelodian (1:53.3, $17.00) and Mia’s first Time (1:56, $3.00).

Campbell’s six wins came out of only eight starts for the day, giving him a .750 Universal Driver Rating (UDR) for the program.

Campbell’s overall UDR is .422, only .008 behind Guy Gagnon for the North American lead. But that’s really no surprise as he has finished above the .400 mark for the last five consecutive years. In 2017 he ended his campaign with an unbelievable .523 which was far and away the best in North America.

Despite the lofty averages, Campbell is also a win machine. Currently only 159 wins away from the landmark 5,000 plateau, he is currently the leading driver at Plainridge Park with 127 wins, 32 ahead of his nearest competitor. And combined with his starts at all other tracks, Campbell has 268 wins in 1,039 starts and $1.32 million in earnings for 2018. That earnings total is already a career single season high for him.

Massachusetts Sire Stakes 3-year-old Preview

The $1.5 million Massachusetts Sire Stakes (MASS) kicks off at Plainridge Park next week with the first leg of the 3-year-old trotters and pacers of both genders competing in the first leg on Tuesday (Oct. 2) going for $35,000 per division.

Many of the horses eligible to the MASS have also competed in other racing jurisdiction’s sire stake programs as a result of the resident mare program in Massachusetts. The duality of eligibility is one of the benefits of breeding in Massachusetts along with the growing purse structure year over year.

Here are some of the MASS eligibles who will be probable starters the first of next month and a look at what they have been doing so far this year.

Yonkers Peek At Program- Wednesday, September 26th

Some insights into tonight’s racing program…a Wednesday, no less.

1ST RACE – (4) GYPSY LEATHER is not what he used to be, though what he used to be never landed as bottom feeder. Really should find these comfortable.

2ND RACE – (4) SHOWMEYOURGUNS goes second outing for new barn after useful effort week ago. What whipped him then would whip these now, nod.

4TH RACE – (6) MOOSE MADNESS had dead aim when nodded last local try, but missed. We’ve gone down this road before, surmise aptitude if gets close.

5TH RACE – (2) MATTAMERICAN remains at level he can handle, though this one is flush with class-dippers. Undaunted, that figures to ensure square value.

6TH RACE – (5) TROPICAL TRICE returns here, having gazed at her with decent results. She and No. 2 have both been regular ‘nods,’ can only choose one.

7TH RACE – (6) BETTOR’S PROMISE has been third in last couple at this level. Opposes what appears to be very dressed-up lot this time around, so gazed.

——

$2 +/- (thru Sat., Sept. 22) – 254 wins ($2,028.80)
from 1,112 ($2,224) selex (-$195.20, there’s no electioneering beyond this point)

highest-priced winner – HIGHVIEW CONALL N ($43.60)
lowest-priced winner – PLUNGE BLUE CHIP ($2.20, friggin’ shrewd)
