AUBURN, Wash. (April 30, 2016) – Inexcess Again powered to the lead on the turn and cruised to a 2 ¾-length victory over My Chief in Saturday’s $16,600 Muckleshoot Casino Purse for 3-year-olds and up at Emerald Downs.
Ridden by Leslie Mawing—already his fifth winner of the weekend—Inexcess Again ran 5 ½ furlongs in 1:02.62 and paid $4, $2.80 and $2.10. Blaine Wright is the winning trainer for owner breeder Madera Thoroughbreds of Madera, Calif.
Inexcess Again joined Night Train Lane and Native Causeway as two-time winners at the eight-day-old meet, while Wright improved to 6-1-1 in 10 starts at the meet including three feature-race wins.
At Golden Gate Fields, meanwhile, the Wright-trained Alert Bay ($9.40) prevailed in the $100,000 San Francisco Mile (G3) on turf and moved over $1.1 million in career earnings. A 5-year-old City Zip gelding, Alert Bay finished a strong third in the 2015 Longacres Mile.

AUBURN, Wash. (April 29, 2016) – Big Hat Charlie held off Party Pooper late and notched a neck victory Friday in the $15,200 feature race for 3-year-olds and up at Emerald Downs.
Ridden by Leslie Mawing—who was three-for-three Friday—Big Hat Charlie ran 5 ½ furlongs in 1:01.95 and paid $10.60, $3.20 and $2.20. Frank Lucarelli is the owner for Center Point Racing Stables and Sabers Drawn Racing.
A 4-year-old Kentucky-bred by Indian Charlie, Big Hat Charlie opened a three-length lead past mid-stretch and was fully extended to hold off an on-rushing Party Pooper for the victory.Big Hat Charlie is 2-0-1 in 12 career starts with earnings of $34,910 including $8,360 for Friday’s victory.
Party Pooper, the 3-10 favorite with Joe Steiner riding, rallied from fifth place to just miss the victory and paid $2.20 and $2.10.Prince of Silver, ridden by Juan Gutierrez, was four lengths back in third and paid $3, while It’s Little Richie, Riotuff and Christmas Caballo completed the order of finish.

April 29 – 2016 Belterra Park Race Meet – IdaBet.com Players

We thought our IdaBet.com players would like to know that on April 29th starts the third season of live racing at Belterra Park.  They will have 93 days of racing that will conclude on October 8th.  Their purse structure to start out their season will be boosted from 2015 and they hope to increase purses as the season moves on.  The second half of their live racing season was helped by full fields and the opening of our turf course so we hope that momentum will carry over to 2016.
