IdaBet Bonus Cash; NATURAL HERBIE TAKES OPEN TROT AT POMPANO

Hey IdaBet.com players – hope your work week and been a good one so far…the weekend is not too far off!

We wanted you to know on a chilly evening in South Florida, Verlin Yoder’s Natural Herbie overcame a second tier post and a somewhat lackluster beginning to score a narrow victory in Pompano Park’s $16,500 Open Handicap Trot on Monday (March 21).

The six year-old son of Here Comes Herbie  came from “out of the clouds” half way through the mile to pin a photo finish defeat measuring a head over Wind Of The North, handled by Wally Hennessey, in 1:55.2.

Pocket Trip was third for Fern Paquet, Jr., 1 3/4 lengths away and a nose better than Midnight Craze, who was fourth.
Diamond Dagger picked up the nickel in the field of 10.

As the Hummer Starting Gate left the station, Chinese Cuisine (Ricky Macomber, Jr. post 2) was on the engine along with She’s All In (Rick Plane, post 8) with Wind Of The North also on the prowl from the outside post 9.

By the time they reached the opening station in :27.3, Wind Of The North stuck his nose in front with She’s All In ready to yield with Chinese Cuisine next, followed by Buddy Hally and Midnite Craze.

Meanwhile, Natural Herbie, was dawdling back in eighth at this point, spotting the field some nine lengths and giving up an additional length or so  as Wind Of The North reached the half in a seemingly manageable :56.1

On the backside, Ivan Davies’ Midnite Craze was brushing strongly and a battle quickly developed between these two with “Craze” actually pushing by Wind Of The North–but not clearing–past three-quarters in 1:25.1

At that station, Pocket Trip had improved from sixth to third with Natural Herbie following some live cover provided by Diamond Dagger and seventh, about five lengths off the lead.

As Wind Of The North put away the challenge of Midnite Craze in the lane, it...

MEADOWLANDS AWARDS MORE THAN $5,000 TO FANS IN “OWN A HORSE” PROMOTION

Hey IdaBet players!  We thought you would want to know that 30 harness racing fans have been given all the thrills of racehorse ownership, without any of the costs, thanks to the “Own A Horse” promotion at Meadowlands Racing & Entertainment.

Beginning in January, 10 fans were randomly selected from entries taken on the Meadowlands website and through targeted ads on social media. The fans were assigned one of five horses that regularly compete at the Meadowlands. The new “owners” received 10-percent of the horse’s earnings during the month, provided the “owner” attended the races in person when their horse was racing and “checked in” at the Meadowlands on their personal Facebook or Twitter page.

In addition to the financial benefits, the new owners also were given access to meet their horse in the paddock, speak with the trainer and driver, and for some, take their picture in the winner’s circle.

During the first month, the Meadowlands paid out $2,358 to the fans. Five winners attended the races at least once and four attended all four weeks. The biggest winner was Jennifer Dalton, who earned $851. Remarkably, this contestant became a real horse owner a month later when she claimed her horse from the contest, UF Fast Feelin, for $10,000.

10 new contestants were selected during February and collectively were paid out more than $1,500. The biggest winner was Julie Klikus, who earned $781.60 thanks to her horse, Intheblinkofaneye.

The promotion proved to be so successful that 10 new contestants were selected in March. Six of the new owners have attended the races and one new owner, James Santin, has earned nearly $1,200 thanks to his trotter World Cup.

“We all know how badly our sport needs new owners to experience the thrills of racehorse ownership while also giving breeders more potential customers for their...

Penn National – No Race Card Statement

We wanted to let our IdaBet.com players know what happened at Penn on Saturday. Due to a tote malfunction on March 19, 2016, the third race at Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race course was declared a NO RACE and all wagers on the race were refunded. All multi-race wagers were treated as consolation or “all pays” for the third race leg of those wagers.

The tote malfunction at the track caused wagering not to lock at the break of the race, allowing wagering to continue for an additional 90 seconds.  Penn National is still reviewing what occurred that caused this failure, but have created short term redundancies that will allow them to continue with the remainder of the race card.

We regret any inconvenience this creates for our patrons, however the integrity of our wagering pools is of paramount importance to us.
