Trainer Todd Pletcher did an easy workout with Uncle Mo in preparation for the Kentucky Derby on Tuesday morning. Remember, Secretariat finished third in the Wood Memorial as the heavy favorite before electrifying the crowd on Derby Day. Pletcher who reported his star colt was diagnosed with an infection right after the Wood should aleviate concerns that his horse is still the real thing.
Delaware Park my home for many years has announced the veteran trainer Larry Jones will once again be conditioning horses at the slote enriched track opening May 1. Jones retired for one year, but apparently got the bug and was back in action with 18 wins at Oaklawn Park this winter. Training again for car magnate Rick Porter, Jones scored with Havre de Grace in the Grade 1 Apple Blossom and took home the gold with Joyful Victory in the Apple Blossom. That filly is now headed for the Kentucky Oaks.
