Race 1: Hau Wong Handicap

1 Speedstar is closing in on a first win. He’s racing well and the dip to Class 5 is exactly what he is after. The inside gate will afford him his chance. #2 Asian One has found his mark and is racing competitively in this grade, especially as a winner two runs ago. Zac Purton’s booking catches the eye. #8 Take What You Need can mix his form but does have enough ability when asked. #14 Travel Glory slots in light. He gets his chance here and should be well over the odds. He’s worth taking an each way ticket on against this group and in this grade.

Race 2: Junction Handicap

2 Laser Victory was super impressive first-up in Hong Kong. He can continue on an upward trajectory and the inside gate should allow him to find the right spot on the speed. #4 Moon Catcher caught the in a recent trial and should be value on debut. He’s worth taking a ticket on to surprise this field. #6 Watch Buddy also steps out for his first start. Ricky Yiu has done well with newcomers this season and previous. Keep a close watch on this guy. #3 Moduleconstruction appears to be steadily improving. Next best.

Race 3: Nam Kok Handicap

6 Like That has form and is a winner down the straight in the past. This doesn’t appear to be an overly strong contest and he does boast a rather slick personal best time over this course and distance. #2 Run Run Cool knows what he’s doing down the straight. He’s been nothing short of consistent all season. #7 Juneau Flash was an impressive course and distance winner two starts ago. He’s holding his form and should be competitive up in grade. #11 Team Spirit can roll forward with no weight on his back. He’s well-weighted and has claims.

Race 4: Nga Tsin Wai Handicap

4 Owners’ Praise is trending upward. He’s an impressive talent who looks well placed to make it back-to-back wins. The inside gate will afford him every chance. #3 Fast Buck was a tidy winner two runs ago. He’s a solid competitor who should be fighting out the finish. #2 Red Brick Fighter is always a threat in this grade. He’s a winner already this season and does appear capable of adding another to his record. #10 Hero Icon is lightly raced but does have more ability than what his record suggests. Keep safe.

Race 5: The Lok Sin Tong Cup Handicap

13 Pakistan Friend finds a suitable contest. He gets Matthew Chadwick up once again who is in superb form following a treble, which should, ensure he gets every chance this weekend off the right rating. #3 Kyrus Unicorn commands respect. Expecting from the draw he may need luck, however, he should be able to skim the rail and save vital ground. #7 Gold Tack continues to improve and should be able to do so again with Hugh Bowman engaged. The wide draw may make things difficult. #4 Flying Mojito is after back-to-back wins. The wide gate’s a hindrance.

Race 6: Sa Po Handicap

14 Speedy Fortune appears to be taking all of the right steps now. He finishes much closer than he did last start with an ounce of luck. The light weight and wide draw give him a great opportunity here. #8 Hong Kong Hall has trialled well ahead of his debut. Zac Purton sticks aboard for race day and he shapes as a major contender here. #1 Cheval Valiant gets a handy 10lb off his back with the apprentice engaged. #4 Innoconstruction has done well across only three starts in Hong Kong. Expect further improvement this weekend.

Race 7: Lung Kong Handicap

9 Amazing Victory slots in light and continues to improve with each and every race. He gets the right draw here and is capable of returning to winning ways, especially under only 115lb. #6 Atullibigeal is expected to run again in Sunday week’s BMW Hong Kong Derby after this race. The trainer has a history of runners performing well here. #5 Bourbonaire caught the eye in a recent trial at Conghua. He mixes his form and is hard to catch, however, on his day he’s class. #3 Circuit Stellar chases back-to-back wins. He gets his chance once more.

Race 8: Nga Tsin Wai Handicap

12 Fighting Star appears capable of leading this group. He’s in Class 4 now but even still, his forward-style of racing should reward him once more. Expect he tries to pinch this one as he has done previously. #6 Run Run Buddy won well last time out. He’s found out what it’s all about and does get another shot here. #5 Publicist has the class but he is struggling to piece it all together. Zac Purton’s booking will assist with that here. #4 Universal Horizon won’t be too far away. He’s on the improve since being gelded last November.

Race 9: South Wall Handicap

1 Red Lion has been so close to a first win for a while now. He gets another excellent chance here with Zac Purton hopping up from gate four. One to beat. #10 Master Tornado clearly has ability and his record is not to be underestimated. Chance are he crosses early in a bid to offset the difficult gate. #5 Chiu Chow Spirit did well to finish fifth first-up in Hong Kong. He can take another step forward. #8 Setanta has consistency on his side and has been finishing off recent races very, very strongly. Next best.

Race 10: Tak Ku Ling Handicap

5 Happy Mission has the draw on his side. He’s showing signs of improvement and a soft run this time in appears favourable. Expecting a big step forward here. #1 Dragon’s Luck will need to cross from out wide if he is to lead this group, which he is expected to do. He’s the one to beat here but there are a few things not in his favour. #6 Golden Express is lightly raced and capable. He’s going to continue to improve. #10 Wonder Kit continues to advance. He’s yet to win but is showing signs of a first triumph being not too far away.
