THE BEST HORSE WON

For all kinds of reasons, the best horse won Saturday’s Kentucky Derby.  California Chrome is a real feel good story for thoroughbred racing and with a rather weak field of three-year-olds in training, we do have a legitimate shot at a Triple Crown.

The owners bought their mare for just $8000 and spent $2500 on a stallion fee to produce “Chrome’ and with a $1.2 million pay check Saturday, and already turned down $6 million for the horse before the Derby, the little guys will be the big story.

LARRY ON THE MEND

One of the nation’s top trainers continues to recover from being thrown from a horse during workouts at Delaware Park.  Larry Jones is making progress after initially was a very serious injury.  We wish him a speedy and full recovery.
