Last seen securing her first graded win on Kentucky Derby Day in the GII Longines Churchill Distaff Turf Mile Stakes, Classic Q (f, 4, Classic Empire–Lovely Em, by Scat Daddy) doubled up on Belmont Stakes Day, capturing the $500,000 GI Just a Game Stakes at Saratoga in front-running fashion. It marked her first score–and first try–at the highest level.
Tough in her previous two tries over Saratoga’s inner turf when she got both her first black-type win in last summer’s Wild Applause Stakes and her first graded placing shortly after in the GIII Lake George Stakes, Classic Q blasted out of the stalls, repelled all challengers while setting :23.62 and :47.17 fractions, and held sway all the way to the wire by about two lengths, getting the mile in 1:32.84. The Just a Game kicked off graded action on a stellar day of racing for the pinnacle of the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival.
Mandanaba (Fr) (Ghaiyyath {Ire}), a GSW & G1SP French visitor who saved ground most of the way, finished second, while dual Grade I winner Segesta (Ghostzapper) finished third.

Overlooked at 18-1 here, the filly chased what was a hot pace up the backstretch and through the far turn. My Gun’s Loaded tipped to an outside lane for the drive home and steadily cut into the margin of favorite and new leader Cold Spell (Gun Runner). The longshot ran right by her target inside the final furlong and graduated by 4 1/4 lengths. The ‘Insighted’ Crowning Glory (Uncle Mo) was fourth.
The winner is her dam last registered foal on record. A half-sister to SW Hip Hop N Jazz (Speightstown), Strive was not reported as bred for this past spring.
