We thought our IdaBet.com players would want to know that Parx Racing officials are holding off on the reopening of the track for training a little bit longer.

The track, which was scheduled to open for training Friday will now wait until Monday to do so.  Sam Elliott, the director of racing for Parx, said on Thursday that track superintendent Gerard Weipert needed a bit more time to finish leveling the base around the inner part of the racing surface and will wait until Monday to reopen for training.

The new racing season is scheduled to begin Feb. 20, but could be pushed back another week.
