Pompano – Wednesday, February 17, 2016
Please note that because of possible late changes, numbers shown here may NOT correspond with program numbers. When wagering, always use the horse’s number listed in your official track program.
RACE ONE EARLY DOUBLE- 2-5, 2-8, 7-5, 7-8 PICK-5 – 2,7 w 5,8 w 4,5,7 w 3,5,8 w 8 2-BERKSHIRE…must’ve trotted an extra 30 yards last week in a very brave effort. Warrior can grind by late with trouble free journey. 7-PLAY FAIR…showed a bit of gate speed in last, wended way into contention on backside, then blew by in the lane for an easy win. 3-COLUMBIA LION…not much on paper but did show some spunk leaving and then even-steven effort thereafter. Compares decently.
RACE TWO 5-SUE’S YOUR DADDY…was chewed up, spit out and hung out to dry in last during sizzling panels and still held remarkably well. Like! 8-WOMAN OF TERROR…takes a bit of a class dip here. Dented quick 3rd panel in last but heavy traffic prevented better. Flies late here. 1-PACIFIC DATE…steps up a notch here but cannot ignore fact that she is on a roll, has the rail and comes into the action in great form.
RACE THREE 4-ONLYTHETUFFSURVIVE…been tackling better company lately while showing stout pace in the lane. Probably on the bullet train here. 5-LICKCREEK FRANCIS…loved backside brush in last (hers :27.4) to wend way into contention then forged into short lead late—then DH. 7-ROCK N ROW…likes to get into the fray early on and probably going to be on the engine when Hummer Leaves. Excellent recent form.
RACE FOUR PENTAFECTA- (Box) 3,4,5,6,8 8-MODERN DAY CLYDE…kind of an “iffy” proposition but takes dip to lowest rung on the ladder & compares very favorably in this field. 5-STURGEON SEELSTER…key here is if the pace is hot. If so, can pick up the marbles in the lane. Did show some stout pace late in last. 3-LIGHTNING LEGS…last few starts have shown improvement. Was pretty much a termite most of last mile but found seam late w/pace. 4-CLIVE HANOVER…always performs well in this class. Been trying different strategies lately. Leaves and yields for garden trip in here. 6-ALLIE’S DRAGON…got a picture perfect journey in last during a very quick mile. Just needs a bit more of a “killer instinct” in the lane.
RACE FIVE 8-DAPPLE APPLE…performed decently against tougher group last two starts and always seems to turn on afterburners in the stretch. 7-V C ASTEROID…seemed to be unable to use her gate speed in last couple during very quick early panels. But could be leaving here. 4-RIVER RISING…followed some live cover in last, dented quick third panel and fanned wide in the lane with good pace. On the ticket.
RACE SIX PICK-4- 6 w 2,3,4,5,6 w 3,5 w 4,5,7 6-ROYAL MAX…lightly raced five year-old was awesome in last week’s win showing very sharp speed leaving & wiring. Even tighter now. 4-WINDING HILL…can brush with the best of them…and sustain it, too. Doesn’t matter whether he’s first up or following live cover. 5-MY REVENUER…post destroyed chances in last but form remains very sharp. Drew coveted post & will look cover off of quick panels.
RACE SEVEN 2-VOLUMINOUS…bobbled her way out of contention in last. When on game, can hold her own against this class. Leaves & yields here. 3-SKYWAY DUSTY…was bothered on backside in last to lose all chance. Usually reliable for that very quick final quarter. Dangerous here. 4-CHEAP N EASY…post hurt in last. Prior made quick quarter move and led through fast panels, which took toll late. Needs garden trip.
RACE EIGHT 3-SOUTHWIND TRINI…pulled turn two in last and grinded to the front by turn three and never looked back. Stays put in same class. 5-JETS ARE ON…followed winner the entire route in last and came up second best while no threat to the winner. Same scenario here. 1-DEUCES FOR CHARITY…was scorched early vying for the lead and set stiff panels which caught up with her late. Better off the pace.
RACE NINE LATE DOUBLE- 4-2, 4-6, 5-2, 5-6, 7-2, 7-6 4-SHOIRTEST DISTANCE…courageous mare cut the mustard in last and almost lasted. Now, gets some class relief on “per start” clause. 5-KAYLA’S DREAM…pulled going into turn two in last, gained some ground on backside during quick panel & just did miss in a photo. 7-DE VALERIA…was out and going prior to the half, paced :28.1 3rd panel into contention and just missed the winner’s circle by a nose.
RACE TEN SUPER HI-5- 2,6 w 2,6 w 1,3,9 w 1,3 9 w ALL 6-TON OF LUCK…not much on paper these days but dips to a very amiable situation here. Been steady in 1:54 range—which will win. 2-TERRORIZER…followed some cover in last but couldn’t dent fast 3rd panel all that much. Still, was grinding away in the lane. Fits well. 3-TIDEWATER TOMAHAWK…patient handling proved to be undoing in last as this warrior could only find a seam when it was too late. 1-ROCK GROUPIE…finally drew a decent post. Should be much closer throughout the festivities here & is a threat to be high on board. 9-FAST BILL…not much on paper these days and has outside post but class drop here is very appetizing. Will be flying late in the lane
