2-MAD COW LISA…appears to be in a bit easier here and drew much better. Has whipped $3,000’s before. Can rattle cages late here. 1-GROOVEY KID…hard to handle but cam really rock and roll when given room to roam. Must be taken away carefully to avoid jumping. 6-INSIDER ACCESS…pulled on backside in last but quarter was too stiff to dent. Can grind a long way if fortunate enough to get cover.

RACE TWO

2-BIG BETTER BEST…drew outside in bulky field in last so no chance there. Showed some pace last 3/4s on the outside (1:26.4). Upsets? 5-PLAYIN FOR KEEPS…been hot property lately and now back where he was a month ago. Liked pace during third panel in last (:27.4). 8-A LIST…pulled off upset in last showing gate speed before yielding for the garden trip. Likes to leave and get into the fray from get-go.

RACE THREE

8-CRAZYASCLASSIC…lightly raced 3 year-old getting tighter now. Gave nice hint in last showing nice brush on backside but a bit short. 1-THE LIFE OF PIE…mare seems to have been driven very carefully since arrival. Would like to see a bubble or two. Good trot late in last. 2-WILDCAT...

KOBE’S BACK RALLIES FROM FAR BACK TO WIN GRADE II, $200,000 PALOS VERDES STAKES

ARCADIA, Calif. (Feb. 7, 2016)—Idle since running seventh in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint Oct. 31 and fitted with blinkers by trainer Peter Eurton, Kobe’s Back rallied from far back under Gary Stevens to take Sunday’s Grade II, $200,000 Palos Verdes Stakes by a half length while covering six furlongs in 1:08.70.

As is his custom, Kobe’s Back, who broke from the rail in a field of five older horses, was away slowly but was in high gear while four-wide turning for home, about nine lengths off the lead.

“Gary said the blinkers did make a difference,” said Eurton, who trained “Kobe” in his last eight starts.  “They probably need a little more cup to them.  He tends to focus on the handlers in the gate…He tends to forget about the front part of the gate when it opens, so we’re going to add just a little more shade to them.”

When asked if he was concerned about being so far back early, Eurton responded, “I know him, so we’re used to it.  Six furlongs is just a little short…I never felt he was completely out of it, knowing...

Pompano Beach, FL.February 9, 2016.Royal Max, driven by George Napolitano, Jr., justified the 4 to 5 tote-board confidence of the betting crowd by scoring a handy 1:54.1 victory in Pompano Park’s $15,000 Open Handicap Trot on Tuesday night.

The lightly raced five year-old gelded son of RC Royalty, trained by Chris Oakes for owner Albert Crawford, brushed up strongly from his seven post to take command prior to the hot :26.4 opener then proceeded to post fractions of :56.1 and 1:24.2 in route to a victory measuring 2 ¾ lengths over the late surging Winding Hill, handled by John MacDonald.

She’s All In, prominent in the garden spot all the way, wound up third for Rick Plano while Sailer Eddie finished fourth, nine lengths away from the winner. My Revenuer, assigned the outside post off of two straight wins in the company, rallied to pick up the nickel.
