Northfield Park Picks

From the “Ayers Above” TUESDAY EVENING, FEBRUARY 2

Race 1: 9- Beep Beep Bye Bye – Drops in class and looks to start the Daily Double. 5- St Elian’s Fire – Could do well in here if she minds her manners. 2- Hooray Katie – Should not be overlooked as a solid competitor in here. 8- Cincinnati Mystres – Could add value to the Superfecta.

Race 2: 3- Cabo – Drops in class and could be at a level where she is the best. 5- Zorgwijk Mercedes – Looks to be tough in here stays trotting. 2- Buckeye Patty – Was a winner last time out but is facing tougher tonight. 4- Wallstreet Bailout – Could be in the thick of the action.

Race 3: 6- MJ Cruiser – Finished second last time out; could step up tonight and get the job done. 8- CC Stormy – Has the ability to do well in here despite starting from the far outside. 2- Augie’s – Could add value to the ticket.

Race 4: 4- Text Winner – Drops in class and looks to be the best at this level of competition. 2- Sure Thing – Classy veteran could bounce back into form. 8- Carolina Jacob – Could make the ticket despite starting from the far outside. 5- Jestabrute – Has as good of a shot as any in here to complete the Superfecta.

Race 5: 2- Rompaway Elvis – Races well in streaks but also throws in clunkers; could win this race if he...

RACE ONE DAILY DOUBLE- 3-3 PICK-5- 3 w 3 w 2,3,4,5 w 3,7,10 w 3,5,6 3-LUCID THOUGHTS…3 to 5 in last against tougher & was too far back to dent but showed strong late trot. 6-THE MUSCLER…started grinding forward last lap in 1st start in new hands. Form continues solid. On tkt. 2-SAINT PATTY’S DOLL…lulled to sleep early in last & 2nd quarter breather for winner diminished chances.

RACE TWO 3-CONNERY BLUE CHIP…had difcult journey in last but still made sharp double bubble move 3/8ths out. 5-MY BUDDY MASON…must’ve traveled 20 yards extra during first half alone in last. Better trip from PP5. 1-YUMA HANOVER…in too tough in last & post hindered, as well. Dips back down & has drawn well here.

RACE THREE 5-DRAKE…bothered early in last but stayed composed to pace mid-half in :56.4. Dub-bubbed last 5/16ths. 4-POKERFACE…likes to be on the board but rarely wins. Still, a force to be reckoned with in this NW2 class 3-MARION…dips back down a notch here. Consistently pacing in...

Selections By “The Ace” John Hernandez

Monday February 1, 2016

RACE 1 1 Dash For Number One makes his 3rd start of the stand for trainer Randy Weidner … perhaps this is the day. 2 Sustainable has been sidelined since two September starts in Texas … her connections are tough down here. 3 Mister Swagger James made the FQHRA Derby, bot was no threat … this will be the lowest level he’s tried.

RACE 2 10 Dp Corona N Lime ran well in his seasonal debut … the 9YO gelding can win if he moves forward off that one. 3 Kryptanite scored as the 3-2 fave at 250Y on January 17 … he’s jumped up a level and will get a new jockey. 4 Kalifornia Quick makes his 3rd start of the season for Matt Frazier … he came up empty as the favorite 1/10.

RACE 3 6 Leave You Streakin is a 5YO who was competitive at 50-1 in his first start … he’s got a shot if he repeats that. 4 Jess A Little Wicked got close in his $5K start on January 4 … Luis Guerrero takes over for Yordanis Amaro. 7 Kisses Alluring returns to action for the potent Kearl/Vallejo duo … tab the tote to get some clues on the filly.

RACE 4 3 Blushing First Down was overmatched in her FQHRA Derby start … thus her connections run her for $10K. 7 Dark Chocolet is a California shipper who has not raced since last summer … maybe she’ll fit well with these. 9 Jess Strong is another...

RACE ONE EARLY DOUBLE- 5-2, 5-5, 5-8 PICK-5 – 5 w 2,5,8 w 1,2 w 5 w 2,3,6 5-DRIVEN BY DESTINY…made strong backside binge in last (:28.2) on “cold” night & out-brushed late. Amends. 2-RUTHS SHADYLADY…left a little in last to improve early position then too much traffic while wide on turn. 4-DAKOTA LAW…was void of usual gate speed in last. Could be on the engine & yield for the garden journey.

RACE TWO 5-MAGIC CHEQUE…traveled a mile & 20 extra yards in last. 5 of 8 lifetime wins show him leaving. On engine?? 8-VICTORS COWBOY JOE…actually went a decent mile in last while spending lots of time outside looking in. 2-DO IT FOR ANNIE…mare will be on the engine here. Dips back down to spot where she won 2 starts back.

RACE THREE 2-DIRTY DEVIL…gave a hint in last showing stout pace on backside (:28). Drew better & can rev it up in the lane. 1-MYSTICAL VALENTINE…in new hands after brilliant win in last. Look for a quarter move to the top. The chalk. 4-CASCATA…very credible performance form 9 post in last...
