Meydan Overview & Selections – Week 4:

There were some very fast times at Meydan last week. The turf was riding like a trampoline, really allowing horses to stretch and use themselves properly. The natural rainfall that had fallen soaked the track but as it dried it reached a point where it became very receptive to a galloping racehorse with no jar whatsoever. The dirt was also very fast with Bochart posting a sensational time over 6 furlongs. The rain had clearly tightened the track up and the rail seemed to be speed favouring. Bochart did get the perfect scenario being able to run even fractions whilst controlling the race but even so the slick conditions played a part in his very fast time.

This week I don’t expect the turf to be so conducive to lightning fast times as it will have tightened up a bit. The dirt however may still be very slick.

Four selections for you this week:

10:05am Meydan – UAE 1000 Guineas: Final Song

This is a re-match between Final Song, Rio Angie and Down on Da Bayou. They took each other on in the 1000 Guineas trial with Final Song winning a shade comfortably from Down on Da Bayou with Rio Angie back in third. I felt this was an honest result that provided a decent speed figure for fillies at this time of the year and I see no reason for the form to be turned around. There is a suspicion that Rio Angie needed the run and will be sharper here. She is certainly a strong travelling proper dirt horse but I’m not sure she’s as good as Final Song who was encountering dirt for the first time in the trial and is also entitled to improve.

10:40am Meydan: Waady

I like this horse switching from dirt to turf and dropping back to the minimum trip. In the UAE he has some fairly strong dirt form. He finished in front of last week’s easy winner Bochart and...

Tonight’s “Lock” is at Northfield Park on race 4 with the #6-Clock Rocker-won 2 of last 3 and gets slight class drop here=Win -Ryan Stahl drives.

solid shot in here from the rail. 4- Drunkonaplane – One of several in here that could make the ticket. 7- Tylers Great – Could add value to the exotics
despite the poor post draw.

Race 2: 5- Bettor’s Outlaw – Receives class relief and should be the one that starts the Pick 5. 1- Trillionair – Should be a solid contender in here from
the rail. 3- Giuseppe Mollusca – Could add value to the ticket.

Race 3: 3- Alan – Has the ability to win in here if he minds his manners. 8- Stars An Stones – Was a winner last time out and could do well again
despite moving up in class and starting from the outside. 2- RFL’s Lord Command – Draws well and looks to make the ticket with the right trip.
1- Koda Bear – Looks to be a factor from the rail if he stays trotting.

Race 4: 6- Clock Rocker – Has two wins in a row and looks to garner a three-peat this time around. 5- Will See You EJ – Made the ticket in five of his
last six races and looks to be right there again tonight. 1- Cam Good Lookin – Looks to be able to grab a piece of the ticket from the rail. 4- Leaping
Dreams – Has as good of a shot as any in here to complete the Superfecta.

Race 5: 1- Expensive Bait – Could score in his sophomore debut if he minds his manners tonight. 4- The Coldest – Another that has a big shot in here
if he minds his manners. 8- Flawless Stone – Could make the ticket despite starting from the far outside. 7- Ellagant Chapter –...

9TH RACE – (2) TELLAWOMAN has a pair of fourths to begin this season, making her as useful as any. Positioned to leave gate, which should serve her well.

12TH RACE – (6) TAKE ABIT OF LIFE does not possess a solid win profile though usually takes backside air for a share. Another who offers value, finale nod
