#3 Bustling City is a promising debutant for David Hayes and he arrives unbeaten across four Hong Kong trials, plus one in New Zealand pre-import. His work has been full of promise and he looks capable of carrying that record straight to race day under Zac Purton. #1 Alsonso has the race experience in a field packed with first-starters and that can count for plenty. He is still chasing the win, but the trial win was a good lead-in and the latest run came with a vet excuse. #7 Leading Dragon drew the wrong part of the track on debut last week and still stuck on well for fifth. #4 Savvy Twinkle is well placed to break through. He drops into Class 5 for the first time after a luckless fifth when plenty went wrong in running, and the switch to Zac Purton is a notable push. Barrier 4 is ideal over the 1000m and he looks set to get every chance. #2 Spicy Spangle is another class-dropper to keep on side. He comes off an improved trial where he led all the way in his heat and similar catch-me-if-you-can tactics are likely. #5 Concorde Star backed up his eye-catching win two runs back with another sound effort, charging home for second from a wide draw. The drop back to 1000m is the query, but he will be launching late. #1 Island Breezes is knocking on the door after a fast-finishing second over this track and trip, only missing by a nose.

Race 1 – KAM SHAN HANDICAP
#11 Macanese Master broke through at long odds last time after finally drawing a gate since joining the Me Tsui stable, and he looks capable of backing it up. He draws low again to land a soft run and his trial between starts was impressive. #5 Robot Knight now gets the chance to bring his trial promise to raceday for Manfred Man. Barrier 1 gives him every chance to settle where he needs to, and the visors go on after he trialled well in them, which can sharpen him up. #10 Noble Deluxe was used up early last time and paid for it late, so the cleaner map from barrier 4 is the key swing factor. #6 Only U never got a clear crack at them when held up badly in the straight last start. He stays in the mix if the gaps come when it matters.
