2018 Dubai Racing Carnival – Saturday 17th February
We are happy to offer our IdaBet players the race cards for the seventh meeting of the 2018 Dubai World Cup Carnival.
Meydan Selections:
Gold Town lit up the Carnival on Thursday night by taking the UAE 2000 Guineas in his stride. Evaluation of his performance seems to have been poisoned with the idea that he beat nothing and that the winning margin of more than 10 lengths was worthless against such opposition. That is palpable nonsense. Ask yourself not what he beat, or by how far, but rather how fast did he run. The clock does not lie. Gold Town can be assessed as having run fast. His time of 1min 37.77sec was well up to scratch for a three-year-old over this trip at Meydan and makes him at least worth a rating of 115, maybe more. At this stage of his career he is better than Thunder Snow was – and as long as his career is nurtured the sky is the limit with surely the Dubai World Cup 2019 on the agenda. More immediately, the UAE Derby is his for the taking.
I have five more selections for Saturday:
Meydan 9:30am (ET): Faatinah
A Group 1 and 2 placed performer in his native Australia, Faatinah won on his Carnival debut in good style and I am somewhat surprised that he has gone up only 2lb in the weights. He was thought to be in need of the run yet made all and readily saw off the useful Baccarat. He will take some catching on this fast turf track and a win will put him firmly in the picture for the Al Quoz Sprint.
Meydan 10:40am (ET): Heavy Metal
This horse is a miler through and through and has a tremendous...

Yonkers Peek At Program- Saturday, February 17th
Some insights into tonight’s racing program for our IdaBet.com players:
1ST RACE – (2) DEMOCRACY N was gazed in last and put forth first poor effort in a while. Guess can’t be that bad again, thus we’re compelled to try again.
3RD RACE – (3) PANAMANIAN HANOVER was well-driven, four-eyeball winner from this post/level last month. Three rotten draws since, can go from here.
5TH RACE – (5) BOOK BINGE had dead aim at price from pocket last time, loomed and missed. Guessing short off layoff and would expect tighter effort now.
7TH RACE – (6) BADIX HANOVER was taken for 50-large out of seasonal debut, a good-effort third. Sees opponents with many questions mark here, nodded.
8TH RACE – (1) THISJETSABOOKIN’ wins 1-thru-7 draw in week’s high-end pace. Case that he could’ve been remanded to outer quadrant, makes ‘em pay.
9TH RACE – (3) DREAM OUT LOUD N has raced eyeballs out past month, primarily versus adults. Have to believe draw and class relief work for him tonite.
——
$2 +/- (thru Tue., Feb. 13) – 37 wins ($378.50)
from 173 ($346) selex (+$32.50, I can’t fathom it, either)
highest-priced winner – MACHTU N ($33.80)
lowest-priced winner – SOTO ($2.70)
