Buffalo Raceway Cancels Live Racing- Wednesday, February 21st

Buffalo Raceway has cancelled racing for Wednesday, February 21.  The track will draw for Friday, February 23 on Tuesday morning, February 20.  The temperatures are expected to be in the 60s on Tuesday and Wednesday with heavy rain causing impossible racing conditions. “I regret this decision and the circumstances causing the cancellations the past week.  It has been a very difficult winter with multiple thaws, followed by freezing temperatures.  Where much of the cause is Mother Nature, I accept the responsibility for the well-being of racing operation that has impacted negatively on the employees, horsemen, and gaming commission employees”, said COO James Mango.  “After discussions with Bruce Tubin, President of WNYHHA, we have agreed to employ the services of Kim Crawford, renowned race track consultant to come in this week to advise track management in its efforts to prepare the track to race this weekend. The track crew has worked 24 hours a day the past week to help alleviate the problem.”

The track is hopeful to resume racing operations on Friday with a first post at 5:00 pm.

Yonkers Peek At Program- Tuesday, February 20th

Some insights into tonight’s racing program for our IdaBet players:

1ST RACE – (3) SUTTON SEELSTER tries it off barn change, freefalling to bottom condition. May find himself as useful as any in essentially formless opener.

3RD RACE – (3) BUGSY MAGUIRE makes third start since claim and class hike. We’re not convinced he works with these, but gets enough venue relief to try.

5TH RACE – (5) WILD AGAIN offered an eight-hole leave in latest, only to get hung for his trouble. Surmise put in play again with inside foes not scaring him.

6TH RACE – (3) LAUXMONT CAPRI is returning from mountains for first since last October. Starts inside what he figures to have to beat, worthwhile visit?

7TH RACE – (3) JACLYN HANOVER offered some late pace from behind eight-ball in nine-horse field. Guaranteed shorter route here, so gazed accordingly.

8TH RACE – (5) ACTING OUT is a popular endorsee, since haven’t gauged him. Chased quick mile as beaten fave, winner prior when race came back to him.

9TH RACE – (4) GLENFERIE BRONTE N was second-tier ‘peek’ in a local return, stuck behind dullard and finishing credible third. Nothing dissuades us now.

——

$2 +/- (thru Sat., Feb. 17) – 39 wins ($389.80)

from 186 ($372) selex (+$17.80, continuing to confound)

highest-priced winner – MACHTU N ($33.80)

lowest-priced winner – SOTO ($2.70)
