Goldstar Classic, Pocket Trip Score At Pompano – IdaBet.com

Goldstar Classic, Pocket Trip Score At Pompano – IdaBet.com

Feb 23, 2016

We thought our IdaBet.com players who love Pompano would want to know that Goldstar Classic and Pocket Trip took their respective divisions of Pompano Park’s duet of $10,000 trotting features on Monday night (February 22).

Goldstar Classic was superbly handled by Hall of Famer Wally Hennessey as this six year-old gelded son of Classic Photo scored a gate-to-wire win in 1:56.3 measuring three-parts-of-a-length over the late charging Diamond Dagger, driven by Mark O’Mara. McKenzie’s Star, prominent throughout the journey, finished third, a length away, while Pointe Of Inquiry edged Highland Yankee for the fourth spot in the closely knit field of seven separated by less than three lengths at the finish.

Indeed, Hennessey sent Goldstar Classic bursting out of the gate and into the lead through an opener of :28.1 with Highland Yankee second, Gold Savage next and McKenzie’s Star fourth.

Pointe of Inquiry was fifth at this juncture followed by Majestic Won with the 3 to 5 tote-board favorite, Diamond Dagger, lolly-gagging at the back of the pack.

Tapping on the brakes during the second panel, Goldstar Classic got a :30.2 second quarter breather, reaching the half in :58.3 with Highland Classic maintaining...

RACE 1 9 Thad Advice may go better at this “super sprint” distance … and he did run well at 110 yards here last season. 6 Quick And Bright has been trading water throughout ten lifetime starts … the short distance may help him out. 7 Illflyquick is dropped in for “the nickel” and cuts back in distance … maybe those changes will wake him up?

Race 1: 9- Rompaway Elvis – Draws into a race where several could win; this one gets the slight call over the others to take tonight’s opener. 2- Herbie L – Looks to do well tonight if he can rebound from his most recent performance. 1- Anastasia Whinnie – Could do well from the rail. 4- Lucky Charm – Could be tough with a good trip.

Race 2: 5- R River Dell – Looks to be successful upon coming to Northfield. 1- Most Happy Dragon – Could be tough from the rail. 2- Keystone Rideau – Won two of his last three races and looks to be right there again tonight. 7- Idbegoodatthat – Could garner a minor share despite the poor post draw.

Race 3: 6- Fear The Football – Was placed the winner last start and could go to the winner’s circle again tonight. 2- Cabo – Made the ticket in both of her most recent efforts; looks to be right there again tonight. 3- Montana Skies – Looks to be a tough competitor in here.

Pompano – Monday – Feb 22nd

RACE ONE DAILY DOUBLE- 3-1, 3-2 PICK-5- 3 w 1,2 w 7 w 3 w 2,6,8 3-MY HOPE…pulled on the backside and showed willing trot final 3/8s to the wire. Dented fast 3d panel, too. 7-PROUD MOMENT…made confident quarter move to the front in last but fast half hurt when trying to repel. 5-EASTER LEGGS…giving subtle hints lately. Liked :28.2 brush backside. Has 5 post (and some gate speed.)

RACE TWO 1-CASCATA…been very reliable for that sharp closing kick. Just needs to work out 2nd over trip to threaten. 2-NEEDLES AND PINS…up a notch in class but cannot ignore recent form, especially last with sharp close. 8-VAN GUNDY HANOVER…has outside post but has been solid in this class & can catch live cover flow here.

RACE THREE 7-DIAMOND DAGGER…always performs well and now enjoys a bit of class relief. Has awesome brush power. 1-HIGHLAND YANKEE…move to the rail may be the key here. Recent win from rail bodes well this time, too. 3-GOLD SAVAGE…has gate speed and drew well. Look for early foot here then a yield for the...
