Keeneland – Heavenly View Wins Sunday’s Diamond A Purse, April 10th

With the opening at Keeneland being a record setter, we thought our IdaBet.com players would like to receive the recap of some of the action from the weekend!

Thanks for choosing IdaBet.com!

Siena Farm’s homebred Heavenly View collared longtime leader Believe in Bertie in deep stretch to win Sunday’s $59,060 Diamond A Purse for 3-year-old fillies by a head before a crowd of 11,323.

Trained by Todd Pletcher and ridden by John Velazquez, Heavenly View covered the 1 1/16 miles on a firm turf course in 1:44.15.

Heavenly View is a Kentucky-bred daughter of Congrats out of the Tabasco Cat mare Heavenly Cat. Now 2-for-2 on the turf, Heavenly View improved her record to 4-2-1-0 and increased her earnings to $69,600 with Sunday’s $37,200 check.

Favored in the field of 12, Heavenly View returned $6.80, $4.80 and $3.40. Believe in Bertie, ridden by Shaun Bridgmohan, returned $8.80 and $5.40 with Lope finishing another two lengths back under Brian Hernandez Jr. and returning $8 to show.

Racing resumes Wednesday with an eight-race program that begins at 1:05 p.m. ET.

On Wednesday, Keeneland will offer a Super High 5 carryover of $70,188.

Remember, for 80 years, the Keeneland Association has devoted itself to the health and vibrancy of the Thoroughbred industry. As the world’s largest Thoroughbred auction company, Keeneland conducts sales every January, September and November. Its sales graduates dominate racing across the globe at every level. In April and October, Keeneland offers some of the highest caliber and richest Thoroughbred racing in the world. In 2015, Keeneland hosted the Breeders’ Cup World Championships. Uniquely structured, Keeneland is a private, for-profit corporation that returns its earnings to the industry and the community in the form of higher purses, and it has donated millions of dollars in charitable contributions for education, research and health and human services throughout

Emerald Downs – April 10th Wrap
O B Harbor blazed to a spectacular victory Sunday at Emerald Downs, racing to a two-length triumph over Kaabraaj in a sparkling 1:00.97 for 5 ½ furlongs.
The winning time was just one-tenth of a second off the world record of 1:00.87 set by Hollywood Harbor on April 22, 2012.
Ridden by Jose Zunino for trainer Chris Stenslie and owner Jody Peetz—the same connections that teamed up with Hollywood Harbor four years ago—O B Harbor paid $11.80, $6 and $4.60.
O B Harbor held a clear lead while setting fractions of :21.60, :43.75 and :55.02, and had energy in reserve to repel Kaabraaj through the stretch. The Oregon-bred improved to 3-1-2 in eight career starts with earnings of $50,691 including $11,550 for Sunday’s win, which stamps the gelding a favorite for next month’s $50,000 Governor’s Stakes at 6 ½ furlongs.
Kaabraaj, ridden by Juan Gutierrez, chased the winner from flag-fall to finish, but settled for second place and paid $4.40 and $3.60.Solemnly Swear, ridden by Joe Steiner, came off a 20-month layoff to finish third and paid $7.
Arrom Bear, the 2-1 betting favorite, finished fourth and Westley, Awesome Indian and Scat Daddybaby rounded out the order of finish.
NOTES: Sunday’s $0.50 Pick 5—capped by a $51 upset by first-time starter Miss Fogcutter—returned a track record $22,700.95 to one winning ticket. . .Meanwhile, there were no winning tickets in the $0.20 Pick 7, and a two-day carryover of $6,418 is up for grabs when racing resumes Saturday. . .Newcomer Erick Lopez made a big splash Sunday with three wins on the 10-race card.
